So as the title states, I recently came up on a set of 34in. BFG All Terrain tires - 315/70/17. The tread isn't great but its not awful. I measured them and they measure much closer to 33in maybe even a high 32in. I know 34s are possible with some motivation and elbow grease - but what are the chances of these 34s-more-like-33s-maybe-32s fitting on a lifted pathy (no other mods that is)?

Second question - what do you think I could get if I sold these?

Here are some pictures for reference.

how much tread is left on them? i got a set of 315/75-16 BFG ATs for $320, all with ~80% tread remaining. my friend got a set of 315/70-17 tires with 50% tread for $300.

the value all depends on the remaining tread depth.

you'll need to motivate your front fenders and front bumper quite a bit to fit the 315/70-17. you'll need to bang and bend on the metal fender, not just trim the plastic inner liner.

I think all those tires are shot. Tread depth them. They come with 16/32nds new. The one on the far left looks like it has alignment wear on it. If your doing it for the look then great but if you want them to off road they won't perform the best.

They're definitely not new; they're all between about 7/32nds and 11/32nds.

And if I ended up fitting them on my ride they would not be used for off-road use. If I ended up selling them, i'm sure there is someone out there who is curious how 33s/34s would fit on their ride and would by a buck or two to find out as opposed to buying a new set for $500+.

who cares?

anyway, you can probably get them to fit ok, because they look pretty worn. new they measure to 34.4in so they may be under 34in now. with that said, i have 285/75-16 (33in) tires on my pathfinder right now, and it took quite a bit to get them to fit. they fit on the rear just fine, but the front fender nearest the bottom of the doors needed considerable work.

i say throw them on and see how much you need to rework. a new set is easily $1000+ so i also like to buy used tires, just to see what kind of tire sizes i can fit. my garage is starting to look like a used tire shop! indeed, you can find killer deals on used tires with plenty of tread depth. i paid $400 for a set of BFG KM2s with 90% tread; new these tires are $240/ea and they were virtually new when i got them.

Definitely used tires seem to be the way to go.

At the moment i'm not lifted - just considering it. What sort of repurcussions might I face if I chose to go with a suspension lift? I've heard the issue with the struts topping out (which to me sounds like I just need to go slow over speed bumps - right?) But i'm clueless as to the problems surrounding CV axles and what manual hubs are? Any other issues I might face??

How tall of a lift are you considering?

It looks like the write up covers everything, nice job on it. :dblthumb:
2 inches isnt too bad, itll give the truck a WAY better stance, along with the bigger tires. Like your write up says, limiting straps are a pretty good idea for this application, and I'm not too sure, but I'm guessing that your front axle is an independant strut, so its not made for demanding off-roading.

CV axles and manual locking hubs, aren't closely associated with the suspension, but the drivetrain and 4x4 system.
CV axles can either mean the CV joints in the front axle, or the joint (either a CV or U style) on the front and rear driveshafts. If you lift gets tall enough, you eventually need to get a longer driveshaft to get power to the wheels, but with a 2 inch lift, I wouldn't be too concerned.

I don't know much about hubs, but they allow the front wheels to be disengaged from their half-shafts in the front axle, thus the front wheels don't turn.
