Is there a camber kit available for the 99 q45? I am going to be lowering it using the tein springs and was told by the shop that I will need a camber kit otherwise it will have too much negative camber. I found a JIC kit but its $1600 (ouch)!!

I seem to remember that Falk's alignment was still pretty good even after the setup....

I woudlnt worry about the front, adn the rears you can use 240/300Z rear camber arms.

Take a good look at your upper suspension mounts. I am not sure how the Y33 is, but on the G50, all you need is 4 longer bolts for the upper link brackets between the body and the brackets. Then you need some spacers just like on 1960's Chevrolet cars. For about $25, you can totally adjust the camber. I bought a kit for $50 off of eBay, that is designed for a 1" drop.

No need to buy expensive 300zx kits.

Here is a shot of the G50 front suspension

Y33 front suspension is different. It is a simple McPherson set-up. When I changed strut cartrtiges I didn't notice that you could easily adjust camber w/o using custm (aftermarket) lower control arms and tension rods!. There might be an adjusting washer for camber. I didn't see it!Rear is the same way. Unless you go with aftermarket parts, not much you can change!Cheers!Freezing my butt off on my "HO" while making all kinds of KILLS

Yup, upper pillow ball mounts with slots needed for camber adjustment in front.

Wes' SPL adjustable lower link will work in rear. FY33 rear is -.1° to much negative now with stock springs.

Can't they just shim it up?

Wouldn't you be able to put some shims/washers behind part #14 in this illustartion to fix the negative camber?

The Y33 suspension is different than the G50's. The FRONT looks like this:

I think the only way to adjust the camber is with the camber plates that look like this:

91-94 Sentra: http://www.stillen.com/sportsc...37755

or this:95-99 200SX/Sentra: http://www.i-m-racing.com/stiladcampla.html

I used to see them on eBay for about $175. They may fit on the Y33.

I don't know much about the REAR.

Do I have to use coilovers to use those camber plates or will it bolt right up to the shock?

They will bolt right up to the struts. Now we need to find out if the camber plates from other Nissans will fit in the Y33. I'll measure the distance between the 3 mounting bolts of the strut mounting bracket (factory plate) on the Y33 and see if it's the same on my '96 Sentra. Meanwhile, do you have any access to other Nissans?

No I don't have any access to another nissan

But I have been in contact with one of the ebay vendors regarding the camber plates that are pictured in the first picture. This is what he wrote in one of his email messages:

The main problem I would be concerned with was piece #8 mating to the bottom of the camber plate.

Without one of those #8 pieces and a shock insert to prototype from, I can not guarantee that it would mate up correctly.

And another:

I don't know for sure. I have about 30 different size camber plates. If you gave me the specs you need, I probably have something that would work.

Your car would probably need coilovers to use these.

And another:

I doubt the upper spring perch is compatible with camber plates.

So from this I am unsure of anything. Hopefully you guys can give me the info that he needs to see if any of his other camber plates will fit.

I just ordered some Fastcam bolts from the tirerack.com. They can adjust the camber+- 2degrees. I will just try that for now.

Rad,Take a careful look at the front struts. The Y33 has no strut-to-spindle mounting bolt. They are weld together as one unit. So the "camber bolt" won't work.

Kevin mounted the Teins and I do not believe he did anything special. I mounted the Eibachs on my 300ZX and never needed any camber kits. I'd be surprised if you need to do it.

Any car with 1" drop Eibach's will mostly stay inside factory spec range. My '97 Q alignment spec was fine when it was with the Eibach's. With the 2" drop Tein, however, I need to flip them every 6 months/5,000 miles right before when the edge starts showing the metal layer. So with the Tein, the total mileage I got out of my brand new front tire Yokohama ES100 (245/45/18 - threadwear: 220) was 12 months/10,000 miles. With the correct alignment spec, they would last up to 20,000 miles. Some people drive 5,000 miles/year and some drive 30,000/year. For the people who put more mileage in the car, bring the camber back to factory spec make more sense.

On my Q, I rode on the old OZ wheels and tires for a solid year before I sold them, I never flipped the tires, and they looked nearly new when I sold them. I'd say that a mild 2-3 degrees of camber alone won't kill tires, as long as toe and caster are correct. In any event, I've never installed a camber kit on a car I've lowered (5 of them) and always gotten decent mileage out of tires.

thanks that is what I'm thinking. My 300zx has had Eibachs since 93' and my tires wear just fine....I'm just freshing up everything when I do the install but not worried about any camber kit.

most cars are designed to have alignment at static ride height that will also remain within spec throughout most of the suspension travel... thus, a mild lowering (i.e. anything up to about 2.8" down) will usually not cause any major change in alignment. But it is always advisable to get an alignment after you perform suspension mods anyway... just to be safe.
