I got my hands on a set of 248's from a CA18DET. So now I have two exhaust cams. If I were to run 2 exhaust cams and take out the stock 240 intake cam, would it be a waste of time or would I actually see any power gain? I figured I would but I thought I would ask the guru's =)

Never heard of running 2 exhaust cams, so I don't know really what gains or loss you would see. Are they going into a KA? I thought about the JUN cams for my CA, but then I was told by many people that it is a waste of time with a turbo engine. Mostly a NA upgrade. I would still figure that you'd see some power difference. Sorry if that doesn't help.

It works and you will get some benefits from doing this, but don't be looking for no major increases. And please don't make a big issue about this guys! Dee

now by taking a look into this, it looks like the cam will need to be modified to make room for the CAS =/... Maybe I didn't look at it well enough but I may be wrong.

People started using double exhaust cams over here and now you can´t find a used engine with exhaust cam anymore... All the junkyards got open engines with dirt in the heads from people picking the cam and leaving it open.

I´ve tried it and no, nothing you can feel. No idea.

I just took a look at the engine and i got myself mixed up. The exhaust cam is the one with the crank angle sensor *knocks head* DOY! Thats no biggy now =).... The only problem I can see in the future is the a/f ratio. With a larger duration and more lift wouldnt it be true to say I should be adding a bit more fuel to my mixture to balance out the added air in there? I guess it's time to upgrade to a wideband O2 sensor and get my SAFC2 in there as well =)

The nearly negligible amount of air that you will be adding extra will be compensated for by the stock ECU and MAFS.

buh? Im a little confused about the "No idea" part. Are you saying you've tried this mod and there is no difference?

I just want to clear this up before I start ripping apart my cylinder head =)

Thanks!

Correct, this became the new CA "thing" to do here a few years ago.Sometimes people do stuff just to do something, not because it makes any difference.

I´ve tried it and this mod sucks, you can´t measure any hp gain. The fastest stock head CA´s here still use stock cams, only newbie´s using exhaust cam now.

I think I remember reading that when using the exhaust cam it will be 9 degrees off or so ? SXOC forum has a ton of very detailed info on ca16/ca18 cams in DETs
