Here is what I have. I got a set of JWT C1 cams. A set of BC srings with Ti retainers.

I talked to JWT and they said that I shouldn't use the BC springs with those cams.???? Has anyone had this setup before

They said that the BC springs are too stiff for their cams. which doesn't make sense because the BC stage 3 cams are very similar to the C1's. And with the stage 3 cams, you use those springs.

also I read on here that Ti retainers suck and not good for a street car. Is that true? and why?

Too stiff of springs can lead to premature wear on valvetrain components. I was wondering the same thing because I have Tomei procams and BC valve springs. After searching and asking, I found out lots of other guys run x brand of cams with BC valve springs and are fine.

With C1 cams, you should use JWT springs, and OEM retainers/clips.

Duration of cams does not mean they are anywhere near the same. Lobe design, ramp rate, and lift are also huge factors.

You'd be best off using JWT springs (as suggest by both myself, and JWT) for your setup.

In regard to Ti retainers, they have a very high 'gall' ability, thus allowing them to deform and become weak through normal use.
