does anybody know anything about doing a cam swap? i am trying to build a KA24E that will pass smog in CA. i already got an intake and cat back exhaust, next i want to put in a better cam. i dont know what to get or how to do it. i have seen the note: requires cam towers to be milled .025". dose anybody knows what that means and how to install a new cam???

your looking at pdm's cam right? The stage 2 cam requires the cam towers to be milled 0.25. But the stage 1 doesnt need the cam towers to be milled. So if you dont want to mill them just use the stage 1. Milling the cam towers is where you take the head off the block and have the cam towers ground down by 0.25 in order for the cam to seat and work porperly.]

one bajillion power units.If you're still needing to pass smog, your best bet would probably be to stick with the stage 1. Stage 2 would probably only net you an extra 8-10 peak hp at best and you would most likely fail smog. You could ask PDM to see if they've dynoed them in comparison (similar to their DOHC offerings).Since you don't know how to mill towers, you'd need to take it to a shop- keep that in consideration too.

Edit- wait, does CA smog apply to 20 year old cars?
