cam shaft gasket???

I'm about to buy an s13 and the guy says the "cam shaft gasket" is gone(blown,i guess).

I've heard of a cam seal or whatever, but i searched the boards and i didnt really find anything on them.

what i wanted to know is how much is this peice(usaully?) and how hard is the job?(1-10)

not that hard. Like a $10 or less gasket. Call http://www.Courtesy-Nissan.com. Is it a dohc or sohc? Easy on the sohc. Little more into it on the dohc.

thats what i was think but i didnt have my fsm on me.

for some reason he thinks the car is doomed because of it.

There isnt a cam shaft gasket.... Only parts on a camshaft that need sealing are the journals.

Now if you are talking about a rocker / valve cover gasket then its 100% normal for them to age deteriorate and fail, and is a simple thing to replace.
