Back Again :)

The reason for the timing belt removal in my previous thread was to find an oil leak, I found the shaft seal on the exhaust cam on the passenger side
90% out from being seated and dripping, I installed a new seal reassembled and it popped out again on the test drive. The oil level is correct, what else could cause the seal to come out ?

Let me apologize in advance for asking any dumb questions.

- replacement seals are new OEM?
- replacement seal OD and pocket/seat are clean/grease free (I use a Q-tip and denatured alcohol)?
- only ID of the new seal is lightly greased (white grease) before installing?
- camshaft surface in the area of the seal ID is not scratched?
- new seal not pressed in using too much force

Based on the seal installation instructions for my son's MR2 4AGE engine (where the seal pocket is split in two halves) I went one step further and working quickly, carefully applied a VERY THIN coating of black RTV to the OD of my previously cleaned and lightly ID greased new seals, before carefully pressing them in. As long as the RTV coating is thin, uncured and doesn't contact the ID or distort the seal, it should be good.

Seals were Timken part Number 224052 , area was cleaned but not with alcohol, ID was lubed with engine oil, I tapped the seal in with a PVC pipe fitting.
I will get an OEM seal tomorrow and follow your suggestions. Is there any way to test it prior to re- assembly?

Which Nissan car had the same engine I have a Nissan dealership 5 miles from the house Infiniti is 60plus
Thanks in advance.

Test fitting/removal would ruin a seal. I like white grease better than oil, as it stays in place reducing the chance of lubricating a surface that shouldn't be lubricated.

300ZX (Z32) is the same engine.
