you have 2 options in my view bro.......take the head to a machine shop and have them fill and repair your problem...or buy a new head...if you (forget) to install that retainer..that acts like a bearing for the cam and holds back god knows how much forces...you will definitly damage or grenade sumpin...dont take a chance..do it corectly bro...good luck.

I have run a cam with only one bolt holding down the retainer and nothing bad happened. Other people have too. Im not saying its a good idea or you should do it, just saying.

Would be much smarter to take the head off and go to a machine shop where they would fix it for you.

its a good engine that i had rebuilt a year ago and boost before getting my sr, but its only goning to be in my cousins car for a year at the most, until he joins the dark side (sr). I have had sh$t like this happen before, one of my friends decided to use a snapon impact set at 5 to tightin his pressure plate to his flywheel, the result was two stripped holes which we filled with jb weld, and its still holding with no problems for a year and a half. i really dont like riging stuff unless i have a good back up car or part, or if it only has to last for a set limit time, and any way whats the worst that can happen expect warping the JM s1 cam and riping out every other cam retainer.....

there is a fix.....but this should be done by someone or with someone who can do it for you or teach you how to...its calld (helecoil)...what you do is use the special tapper and re-tap the threads larger..to fit a special thread replacement coil in those newly tapped threads...it will fix your issue perfectly and forever if done corectly...you should check into that...good luck
