Cam Question ("Undercamed")

When Nissan states that the SOHC KA was "under Camed" are they stateing that the cams are simply ground smaller than liked or was the cam actualy retarded in timing, i have an R6 nismo cam and each 2 degree button i advance my cam i seem to get more power, i have stopped at roughly 6 degrees advanced due to after degreeing the cam and crank this puts me at one degree advanced from stock. Basicaly what i am asking is would i get a power responce from putting in the 8 degree advanced button in the cam timing gear (nismo adjustable)? I am simply trying to find out before i just pull off the valve cover and see for myself. I will post results if i have to do it on my own.. -Later
