Hi. When I did change the head gasket on my car I did a couple of mistakes that in the end gave me a big problem. I didn't mark the cam pulleys good enough and the chain did jump a few steps on the lower wheel so when I mounted it all again, the thing that should not happen happend:-( So I had to change 8 valves and open the engine once again:-((( So this time I want to be really sure. That's why I'm asking you for help. Have I fitted the cam pulleys right? If you follow the URL below you can se some pictures that I have taken. http://home.no.net/reffer/head_gasket.htm Thank you in advance for helping me with this. There's no way to be certain without removing the front cover and looking at the sprocket on the crankshaft. Then you must line up all the colored links with the indentations on all 3 sprockets. When you get the chain and tensioner back on, rotate the engine by hand by turning the crankshaft with a wrench. This will guarantee that there are no interferences before you try to start the engine.

You must remove a whole lot more than just the front cover to look at the sprocket on the crankshaft :( So that's why I'm looking for an easier way out. Since every part of the chain is the same it should be ok to turn the enigne until TDC and then adjust the cams according to that.

When I compare the pictures on thess two URL'shttp://sr20.hybrids.jp/install...3.jpgandhttp://home.no.net/reffer/head_gasket.htm

I'm pretty sure that I have got it right this time. If somone dissagres PLEASE let me know ;)

The problem I have with such visual certification is that there are possible variables present. With your method you might get it right, and I think you'll be at least close if not exact. But there could be a differing amount of slack in the straight (tension) leg of the chain that you can't see in the pictures, which will lead to slight differences in cam position.
