Vaccum at idle is 10-12 it holds idle pretty well at 1200ish rpm (IACV turned up)Absolutely no power up until 4000rpms. My car feels like it has 50hp. It barely moves. Then I hit 4000rpms and it hauls a55. Here's my pics of what I see. Skipped a tooth off the bottom chain?

To tell you the truth, it looks like you have both of them just one tooth too low. Both dots are suppose to be on the shiny parts of the chain. If you put the big gear on tdc and try putting the chain with the silver marks on the dots. Then put the tensioner and move the intake cam to close the slack.... That is exactly how I do it and I always get it right the first time. lol remember im the idiot with the wrong safc settings lol.

Trust me dude if you were closer to miami i would help you out in a heart beat , I know the damn timing chain is a pain lol ive done it one to many times.

being only 17 i don't know TOO much about cams and timing yet however....

If i was in your situation, i would set the motor to TDC via timing marks on the harmonic balancer...then look at your cams and see how they look. Your cams should look like they do in the pictures above when the motor is at TDC on the crank (1st cylinder lobes facing away from eachother)

--Thanks ka-t.org!

Make sure the pin is set to TDC as shown. If your cams line up right and you still have this problem, then i have no clue what is happening with your engine. oh and if you already did this or your motor was set to TDC via Harmonic Balancer in the above pics just ignore this post!

Hope i helped some, sorry if not.

From the last pic it looks like it's just my exhaust is one to far past... Correct? So just turn exhaust cam one tooth?YES MY ENIGINE IS ON TDC. Checked my rotor as well, and it's perfect.

okay look at the last pic you have posted, do exactly what katwo40 says move it back one tooth, and you got it dude.

you also sound like you are only running on 3 cylinders, is the idle really ****ty if it is maybe one of the injectors are messed up or something is up with your spark.

This is all I have for right now, ill try to run home and post up better pics soon. please note, picture 1 is WRONG, the cams are in backwards, causing my valves to hit my cyl 4 piston, but the marks are correct. the marks should be at a 10 & 2 type formation. note that I have slack in the upper section of the chain, and that the marks would fall into a 10 and 2 formation when the intake cam is rotated CCW.

this picture is correct, but its not from the front. hope this helps a little bit.

Somehow the chain has jumped???? I rotated the engine probably 50 times and same result everytime. Chain is off compared to how it was last night. Cams are still opposite not cockeyed like before. Here's the new link of what it is now. zer...14933

Messed with it last night...Car wouldn't stay running. Even giving it gas it would die. Took the distributor off my other motor....Hopefully it's that now

Pull the distributor and advance it one tooth and try it again. If it is real easy to miss it by one tooth.

LOL, I was lucky car would not crank the first time. I pulled the dizzy and advanced it one tooth fired right up. I figured it was the dizzy since it was my first time at rebuilding the engine.

Car is a beast now. Tires break loose in 1st no matter what. Got to get that J30 diff in.Plans to get the diff in this week and short throw goes in tomorrow.Had to fight my distributor, it had a crack in it luckily I had my spare engine for the rescue and after 2 attempts finially got it on the correct tooth and fired right up.

Your orginal problem was poor performance, low vacuum and what about your idle?

What is your vacuum reading now?

Originally I had perfect vaccum. Just nowhere near the power, and engine was choking itself out. Could no go to redline in 3rd+. Dyno showed peak torque at 4000rpms making 191ftlb and 161hp at 10psiAdjusted one cam to correct position. Rough idle and only 10-12 vaccum, car had absolutely no power down low but took off in the top end....Adjusted exhaust cam to correct location car didn't idle.....Replaced distributor...Car hauls like a bat of h3ll....and then some
