I need to remove my OEM cams. Problem is, I cannot locate the chain tensioner; where EXACTLY is it? Can someone point it out to me with great DETAIL? What do I do to it? Do I PUSH DOWN on it, PULL up on it or screw it loose? Also is there ANOTHER way of removing the cams without loosening the tensioner? Can I just remove the cam sprockets? Would the cams just slide out now? Please anyone with a solution help me out! Thanks, sorry guys I'm a little SLOW![IMG]

Why the hell did you create 3 threads about it?

Anyways, the KA24DE only has two tensioners, and you just need to follow the chain to find them, they're pretty obvious once you can see everything.

Nope, there is no adjustment on them, you stick them on and they do their job.

When you're replacing your chain(s), you replace the tensioners, that's what I meant by stick the new ones on.

Hmmm... I dunno too much about the DE motor, owning an 89, but here goes...

There should be a tensioner somewhere in between the idler gear and the cams (I think it's on the left side but I'm really not sure) and you should be able to find it by following the chain from the idler to the cam sprocket.

You might be able to push in the piston inside the tensioner using a clamp in order to give you enough slack to pull the cams out. I know you can on the E, so I think you can on the DE too.

Both tensioners are on the passanger side. They can be pushed all the way in and locked in this position with a little hook that is attached to the tensioner. Also take the upper timing chain cover off. It gets easier and you will actually be able to see everything, that I am talking about here.

Can anyone here point out EXACTLY where the chain tensioner is located? Also, how do you release the tensioner? Do you push down on it, PULL up on it or screw it loose? Please someone help! Use this picture (Thanx, Mike Murphy) and POINT it OUT! Im a little SLOW.
