Cam bracket question

So I was working on the used engine (KA24E) today and while removing the cam brackets w/ bolts there were little things that came out with each of them. They're cylindrical in shape, about a centimeter across, and the bolt goes through it to hold on the cam bracket, two for each bracket.

Just for future thought, I tried to put each of them in the cam brackets for storage, but they didn't wanna go back on. What am I doing wrong?

yeah, those things just locate the cam caps. i have never had a problem getting them back in. just use a little persuasion on it with some lube.
