Hey guys was looking into replacing my cam angle sensor. My motor is stalling, and hesitating in accelaration, but these symtoms only occur after the motor has reached oporating temperature. I have a spare Ka for parts, and was pulling the cam angle sensor off. And ok, you have to have the motor at TDC when I install it on my ka, with that in mind do I have to have the cam angle sensor at a certain position. I know there's a slot on there that represents cylinder 1( says in the manual) but what position does this have to be in when I install it. Ps. it says nothing about instalation of this in the manual, only how to check if its working properly.

The #1 cylinder needs to be on tdc on the compression stroke, and when you install the dizzy (cam angle sensor) the rotor should point to the #1 post on the cap. After that just set the timing, can't remember what it needs to be set to but someone who can remember will hopefuly chime in.

It's the crank position sensor, by the way. Or so the FSM tells me.

But anyhow, just rotate the crank to 20 degrees BTDC on the compression stroke and install the distributor with the rotor pointing to the #1 cylinder. This ensures that your timing will be more or less correct. If you install it towards #1 when the engine is at TDC, your timing will be set at 0BTDC, which is bad.

In my manual the sensor that is present after you take of the distributor cap and rotor is the cam angle sensor. Since its the Cam angle sensor does this effect your response. Also what does OBDTC stand for? And BTDC stand for? And one more question that makes you guys think I know nothing, how and where do you adjust the timing?

if you take the dist. apart without taking it out of the engine then you do not have to mess with the timing...unbolt your dist. cap...remove rotor...remove black cover under rotor...take screw out of center post that the rotor bolts up to....remove post...take 2 screws out of cam position sensor...remove timing wheel(little silver disk with alot of slots on it) unplug sensor....remove...install new sensor in reverse order of above...dont worry about the timing wheel it can only go on the shaft one way.....btdc is before top dead center..the number before it is how many degrees your timing is set...in other words how many degrees your number one plug fores before the piston gets to top dead center..for a ka motor timing should be set at 20 btdc...if you take out the distributor then yeah you will have to retime it
