Hi

I have been researching a a/c problem and during that investigation I found that the Nissan 240sx uses a Calsonic CWV617 which is the same compressor installed on the 94-96 Q (please refer to: http://www.aircoparts.com/).

I found this interesting because the 240 is a 2.4 liter and the Q is a 4.0 litter.

Further, most of the posts on the subject indicate that the 94-96 Q’s have tremendous cooling power.

Is this possible ?

Has there been a scriveners error?

Any other thoughts?

Best regards,

Since variable displacement compressors are self regulating based on charge weight [and low pressure feedback control], the volumes [areas] of condensers/evaporator set the BTU capacity.

The amount [area] of window glass and insulation are variables ------both vehicles could hold 4 people [constant heat load].

Typical small car AC runs 15-24,000 BTU/hr whereas lux sedans can approach 36,000 BTU when brand new.

For those engineers here is the heat mass transfer coefficient of R134ahttp://www.sae.org/altrefriger...r.pdf
