whats goin on gys,
been rnning my s1 rb25 in my cope a little over 8 months and now i got some 680cc injectors, rail, reg, and cometic headgasket sitting at the house waiting for me to decide on a turbo.

this isnt a "how mch hp for X turbo?" kind of question, more of an exhaust flow question...

my goal is about 400whp and i found a godspeed gt30 with a .86ex/.70comp and an internal wastegate (plus it comes with a great 1 year warranty) so it was perfect, rated about 500hp and i wanted to stick with the factory bottom mount manifold...only thing is it has a t28 flange...typically on the rb you have to use a spacer to clear a gt30 anyways so i was thinking of welding on a t28 flange with threaded holes for the studs, thoughts? :ohno:

basically my question is, will the t28 flange(maybe honed out a bit?) be enough to alow the rb to still breath right? or will the t28 flange on my t3 manifold be too resitictive?

thanks in advance, cant wait for the new set up!

Dont get a t28 flanged gt30. Believe me that's what I have now and wish I would have gone t3 flange. Its more restricted than I would like and I have boost spike issues. Granted I could port the wastegate hole, but on a 2.5l you want a t3.

yea im not looking for any extra work, what would you recommend for something t3 flanged, internally gated and could handle around 500hp? ive only really seen gt30's, maybe a kkr? i've seen some "ebay" turbos that are an internally gated gt35r, or so they claim, it is .64 turbine and .70 compressor, but it comes in a t3

A gt3076r t3 flanged would be perfect if you have that kind of money. I spent 1200 bucks on my Turbo. The only other turbos I know of that can crank out close to that, that's cheap, are holset turbos, which some are t3 and internally gated. Like the hx35 or the hx40.

yea but the factory onternal gate is set to like 22psi on those, not to mention the spiking on the internal holsets, i was looking into it earlier, i might have come across a cheap manifold and might cave and do the ex. gated set up :gotme

makes me mad for trading my old turbo and wastegate set up :slap:

If your looking for 500hp, it will probably take 22psi on pump gas. I tell you what, if I ever did my setup over again I would definitely go ewg and t3,maybe even t4 flange. I don't know to much about the holset turbos but that crazy someone is having boost spike issues with those when the meant for 6.7l diesel's!??? I've had my Garrett gt Turbo for 4 years now and still running strong at 25psi....can't go wrong with Garrett. Have you seen the new Borg Warner turbos? Bov and wastegate is built into the Turbo and new billet wheel. They look pretty bad a**!

If your going to put a cometic head gasket on, i would recommend having both (head and block) milled before installing

Why not buy a holset? cheap and reliable... ching chong parts are garbage
