Calling out all other Computer Nerds

Do I feel stupid. I picked up NFSU today, but upon startup, I'm automatically dumped back into the desktop. I've updated direct x to 9.0b, downloaded the latest game patch and I've downloaded the newest catalyst driver for my vid card.

System specs:Athlon 1800Radeon 7200 64 MB384 MB DDR RAM

I know I know, the min req vid card is a Radeon 7500, but I've never had problems running games requiring that card as minimum (C&C Generals for example). I'm not up for upgrading my vid card, but if I have to I have to.

7200 is old ****... Upgrade to the Sapphire 9800 on sale for 220 at new egg. It will be the next card to last you 3 years

i wish i had that much money to plunk on a new card. I've gotta get new tires soon. I might get a 9200 or a 9600. They both still have the quad pipelines and shaders, just a slower clock speed and less ram than the 9800

If your on a budget I believe you can get a 5900 for 150-160

i'd be careful on the 9600SE... it drastically underperforms. I just upgraded my computer and was going to get a 9600 pro, but then found out that the 9500 pro outperforms it in most cases. The SE is the cheap version of the card that will suck even more than the 9600 pro. If you want to go cheap, get a 9500 pro, not a 9600se. You'll have to replace it again in 6 months!

PS I spent the extra dinero for the 9800 pro

Sure sounds like a graphics card problem. Also may want to make sure your sound card drivers are up to date.. can't hurt to make sure everything is the newest possible. If that doesn't work, maybe try and borrow a different video card if you can. Would hate to see you shell out the money for the new one to only have the same problem.. that is, unless you need an excuse to upgrade And, just out of curiosity, why "bleg" to nVidia?

i need another 200gig harddrive, my 250gigs is filled

anyways did u download the game or did u accully buy it? if you bought it uninstall and reinstall if that dosnt work i have a crack for it that will work.. also try rebooting your computer after the install normaly that will fix it..

i had that problem also, but that was because my version is pirated and i forgot to install the crack..

i've reinstalled it three times now. i even went and got a replacement copy and reinstalled it, but still doesn't work. one of my friends in the IT biz has heard rumors of some companies putting checker apps in the startup so if you don't meet the min reqs, it won't start the program.
