I have an 85 z31, that's great. My father... not so much. Doing anything to my car is like doing a root canal. I've been driving around on dry rotted tires for about a year now, Jesus loves me I'm sure. My father insisted that the tires were fine.. WRONG. And this is coming from a mechanical engineer who doesn't know a z31 from a c4. He refused to let me buy a new set, so I ended up getting a blow out about 2 weeks ago. My poor baby is STILL sitting in the driveway with the spare on. So after all of this, now suddenly he wants to buy new tires - shocking. I explained to him that my rims are bent, therefore, we need new ones.. Why buy tires to fit the old rims, when you're just going to turn around and have to buy new tires for the new wheels? I'm on my second root canal. I've been working on this car for a year now, and apparently I still don't know what the eff I'm talking about.Anyways, if you guys could post pictures of your 300 with aftermarket rims on them, so I can prove to him that my car will still look clean without the stock wheels, you would be amazing.

why would your wheel be bent? did you drive a long distance of the flat?

it's very few and far between to find wheels int the correct offset and bolt circile for the Z31, you're better off just getting tires unless you happen to find a decent set fo wheels that actually fit

why does your fathers imput matter? is he paying? if he is paying he makes the decissions, if you don't like his decissions, you should pay

+1

But here's my Z31. 18"x8" +15 offset, slightly sunk in (clears at full travel that way). Would be completely flush on a 84-85 fender I would guess, but I would suggest getting 17" wheels max. The 18s didn't seem to big until I had run around on them for a week, then I started thinking that a 17" would look a little better.

Damn Josh... That is battleship as hell and monster trucking it. With the stock springs I could see how you might be worried about rubbing the tire against the fender. But with just about any aftermarket springs and shocks you will not have any problems.

Wheels that fit properly are EASY to find. Oh and cheap if you know what you are doing. I paid 150 a wheel for mine. They are 18x9.5 et +15 all the way around. On a early body (84-85) you will need a fender roll for these though.

My car. Another car with good wheel fitment.Oops, here is another car with good wheel fitment.

Oh I forgot to add... Look here for more wheels. Not all of them fit good though. http://wheelshow.redz31.net/

the bent rims are probably from the fact that my alignment is crap. I looked at the flat tire, there was no tread whatsoever on the inside wall of the tire. I probably have 70% tread still left on the tire, it was just riding on the inside. I'll grab some pictures actually, it's quite funny.

I was just going to look for s13 wheels.. keeping the original bolt pattern means less money out of my pocket. I've got connections out the rear for wheels and tires, so I don't think I'll have to wait that much longer.

I'M the one who's paying, just so we're clear. I work my tail off at two jobs. but he's just over protective of his daughter.. he's always been a control freak. I'm 18 and he still threatens to ground me but i've paid for everything in this car, I even skipped 3 days of school to go to the junkyard, pull out parts, and work on her in the driveway just so I could finally get it on the road.

jitter - your car looks clean, man. I usually don't like flushed wheels, but they look real good.

Stockish suspension when I bought those wheels, so it was an issue. Then I slammed the f***er into the ground for a while. I've got Z3Rs now, not that it matters.

I assumed it was a 4 lug n/a, his pic does show a spoiler but also chrome trim

Personally, I'd do a 5 lug swap before buying wheels. But that means buying rotors and other random s***. And if her father won't let her be with just putting wheels on the car, I doubt he'd be filled with warm fuzzy feelings with her pulling off the hubs and brakes.

WORD. I found some okay 4 lug rims for the time being.. if I feel like doing a conversion, I won't have any problem with it down the road.but I think I'm just going to buy the new rims and put them on myself, undermining I realize, but consequence has never stopped me. I'm also thinking about 17's instead of 18's from fear of the wheels taking away from the car... do I still need the fender roll for that?

jitter - thanks for the wheelshow reference. definitely helped, I appreciate you.and yes evil, you assumed correctly, it's a 4 lug N/A.

Wheel diameter has no effect on the offset. So with that said, if the 17" wheel is the same offset and width as the 18" wheel, you might need a fender roll. Needing a fender roll is only because you want a relatively flush fitting set of wheels. If you want battleshipped wheels, you will never need a fender roll.
