Take it from me, you don't want to take on a Q that already has a dead engine. I learned that lesson and ended up spending waaaaaay more than it was even worth. Consider this: I worked at a automotive repair shop at the time, every single part I used when I swapped the engine was brand new bought at wholesale. The labor was $1,500. The engine itself (a Japanese takeout) was $750. The car was worth $2200. After hoses, plugs, labor, the engine itself, and other misc. parts, I spent at least $3200 just to get the car to run... and thats with parts at wholesale!
After that the fuel pump went, the transmission started slipping, my struts needed replacement, my brakes needed to be replaced, my ABS unit started leaking, etc etc. I finally sold the car for $1000 after buying another Q. I put a total of $5600 into that car and it still had issues. I could have had a 94-95 in good shape for the money I spent on that last Q. When buying a Q, it's best to buy one that's running!
