My school is looking to start a speedball team for the next college season. I played a lot back in 9th & 10th grade but have fell behind a lot (I own a 2004 autococker). I'm looking for advice to what I need because I'm pretty sure an 04' autococker will not keep up in speedball tournaments. I'm shy on money to which sucks a lot seeing that paintball is extremely expensive.

Can you rent some of the more expensive equipment for the time being?

Equipment doesn't mean anything over skill.

Very true but I'm going to lack if I'm using a manual Autococker against an electric Angel.
I'm interested in getting an Planet Eclipse Etek 3 LT, nothing to special.

I guess that's fair.

I would go with anything with a board that shoots what your college is looking to play in ( psp, nppl, nxl, etc. )

I'm sure they're not looking to play in those actual events but the rules they follow are most likely similar to the ones they enforce.

Oh, well I'm not sure then. I looked up the rules for NCPA and it specifies that the marker has to shoot in a semi mode only.

I guess it's up to anyone else to provide suggestions.

Make sure you get a gun that can cap itself at 9bps. Old standard was 13.3 and 15bps before that. They have been limiting the shooting speeds over the years. Certain tourneys do unlimited semi, which I love. other give you a choice of shooting semi capped or ramping capped, if you get this choice choose ramp unless semi lets you shoot faster in their rules.

If a gun you have can't shoot a hopper and 5 pods, you don't want it. Also what do you play? I do it all, but I have friends that are strictly back and front players.

I shoot an Infinity legend which has 1 moving o-ring and no LPR so its hella simple. but you get more shots out of a gun with more moving o-rings and lpr.

Great guns that aren't toooooooo expensive.

Do not buy a smart parts gun. I have seen three pro SP guns that I would shoot, they were all aftermarket parts.

I would recommend the GEO but its not cheap. But so hella fun to use and crazy compact. like a mini with none of the downsides.

Get some pants, a 3 pod for front and 6 pod pack for back players. I love my JT Proteus-flex mask but wear whateva you like. Get soccer or baseball cleats once again preferrence, Then you are gonna have whatever team jersey, then just shoot face.

For hoppers use either Pinokio or rotor.

If you only ever want to buy one gun for the rest of forever get an SL74 with full barrel kit. Best gun I have ever used all around.

Cheap a** paint that barely has the right oils to stain. The wipe right off, Brass eagle makes some great s*** paint. Never use monster balls from walmart, the dont like to break which means you are shooting marbles at 200MPH at human beings faces. The damage mostly comes from impact tho so if you are shooting under normal speed then it might do alright. The Better the paint the easier the break. Get dynasty paint it smells good.

Nalas address is something Id have to email, I don't want all of carlile going there for the after party.

Thanks for the help Breadbox
My plan is to start practicing with my schools team and see how it goes. I know for a fact my autococker won't keep up so I have put it on craisglist for some cash. I'm not looking to drop a bunch of money so I have been looking into the Planet Eclipse Etek 3 LT. I have no clue where I am playing yet all I know is I loved the sport back when I played 3 years ago. I was pretty serious back then and participated in a few tournaments with friends but nothing really since then. I'm just trying to figure out what equipment I need without dropping 2k on stuff in case s*** doesn't work out. Thanks again.

I mean honestly depending on how fast the shooting is 9bps, 15bps, or unlimited then you could hold it down with an AC. We played iron man at this field where its 1vs 1, one guy gets a pump, one guy gets full auto. winner gets pump, challenger gets auto. I did work with that pump. I held it down for a bit before I had to get up the pump, so just make sure you become a good player. Gun is less important.

^ Very true. So should I just start with the autococker and see if I need to upgrade. I mean I might as well right?

My friend just gave me a box with a rain maker in it, and a tippmann 68 carbine. Shizz is so old its funny. 68 carbine has a copper bottomline. If it leaks I'm screwed.

Yeah guns are easy to get, but if you get sponsored it usually means switching up what you shoot.

What's you gun budget? I might find some crazy link for you.

^ I'm broke, literally broke. I start my job May 10th and hopefully come fall semester we'll have a sponsorship with Valken Paintball. Discount on paint and such. Once I get home I'll start using my autococker and once I have enough dough that thing is getting sold and I'm getting a new gun with whatever I have.

Someone on your team probably has a backup gun you can shoot. I usually bring three guns to a field just incase two don't wanna work. So you might not NEED you gun right away.

When you are gun buying tho...
Get an older ego, they can be had pretty cheap, everyone uses them so a ton of people know how to fix them.

I would say never sell the Autococker, they are neat. Just buy a new gun. What cocker is it?

I have an 02 body with a hinge frame that is waiting for a pump kit to get bought for it.

Man do I love that etek 3 LT. It's an 04' autococker, thing has done me well for a couple years. Me and a bunch of friends with autocockers would always play tournaments, s*** was awesome.
