Hey guys,

I've had this problem for quite sometime, almost a year now, but haven't been able to find out much. Almost every time I eat something, I tend to vomit right after. This also happens when I brush my teeth or wash my mouth with Listerine and the like. I went to a doctor sometime last year, and she said it was just a temporary stomach flu. I was given some medication, but that didn't help at all. Earlier this year (January), the problem went away, but started back a couple of weeks later. I don't know why this is happening, and I can't afford to go to the doctor (last trip cost me $150) or have special tests done. I'm a college student and just don't have the money to spare right now. Is there someone who can help me understand what's going on? It just hurts so much every time I vomit, and it's become unbearable.

Well i can tell you that the reason why it hurts so much now is because the bile from your stomach is eating way at your esophagus.

If your esophagus gets to the point where it could be ruptured you would almost a 0% chance of surviving the rupture. Esophageal perforation is a very dangerous complication. Sometimes i see these with bronchial scopes. Or with endoscopy. Chances are low that you would have a perforation without some sort of trauma, but if you esophagus already weakened it makes it even more possible for this to happen.

Also another possible complication is aspiration pneumonia. If you were to breath in any of the bile while vomiting you could get a lung infection and go into respiratory failure.

But all in all it sounds like a bad ulcer. If i were you i would get on Medicaid and get some government assistance. Because you are a student there should be some assistance available through the school. Go to a doctor, take some tests. Get blood work and maybe a stomach x-ray or CT to look for any kind of stomach disease. But i think you would need a bronchial scope.

I am not a physician but i assist them in transesophogeal echocardiograms on a daily basis. And i know esophagus disease and stomach disease can be dangerous if left unchecked.

Thanks a lot man, I appreciate the help. I'm going to see if I can find a doctor that deals with this type of thing in town.

I also read on a site that these problems could be because of eating habits and psychological factors. It stated that things like not eating for hours then suddenly eating can cause it too. I've done that before as I don't eat very much these days. Do you think those could attribute to the problem?

Also, if you're in college, you should pay the extra $100 and get medical coverage through your school. I would look into it.

Look up h.pylori while you're at it and request to get tested for it once you get some coverage going. In the end all we have is our health, take care of yourself man.

Nothing to play with, I have esophageal erosion, extremely painful spasms and Barrett's disease and it can be life threatening. The cause of my issues stem from a severe autoimmune disorder and stomach/esophagus problems where some of the first signs I saw from initial onset.

I would insist on getting scoped ASAP because these are usually scheduled weeks in advance. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

Thanks guys. I found out I apparently have Blue Cross insurance, so at the end of the month, I'll be going to see a doctor/specialist about these issues and hopefully it's nothing serious. Thanks again for the help, appreciate it.

Sounds a little bit like you have a bad ulcer combined with GERD.

GERD is a common disorder anymore, as is IBS, but no one really talks about these things because they don't realize they have them.
