Hey guys. I have been having a hell of a time getting my rb25det neo 240sx swap running. The ecu I got with the engine doesn't start it or even turn the fuel pump on. It's an 06 ECU which seems to be most common on the neo's from an ER34 (I think the yard just threw it on there but isn't the original). There is an elusive 3A ECU that might be the one I need. I haven't found one for sale yet though.

I have tried an ECU from a WGNC34 Stagea with the neo rb25 and it runs it on 5 cylinders. Has an E0 on it.

Can you guys tell me what # ecu's you have and maybe some more details so I can find the right one that actually works with my engine?

Goodluck mate, people have tried and tried countless times to do it.

Apparently it has something to do with the fact that the neo ecu's have an immobilizing feature where you need the whole car loom for it to turn on.

You could probably get it going if you looked into how it all works and bypass the system but I guess it'd be very time intensive and hard to find info.

Good luck mate!

I might need to get a power fc then. I hope it actually works on mine.

stevie-wunda, is there a place with all this info about trying neo ecu's? It's odd becuase my friends car runs with the 06 ecu but it doesn't work on mine. And they are both 240's (his s14). A lot of people run them in cars other than the skyline so that theory doesn't seem all that true. But, thanks for the info.

Also, how did they ever get their neo swaps running? I'm surprised I never heard of this problem.

Well I took my loom + ecu to an auto sparky and he couldn't figure it out.

Theres def something different. The whole ecu pinout layout has an extra row of pins compared to the normal 25det ecu.

Not sure exactly whats different but they aren't a 'normal' 25 ecu thats for sure.

I've wired two neos already and never had a problem. Did you wire the harness yourself? If so what wiring diagram did you use?

Stevie, yes they seem to be pretty different. My friends car is a neo also though. An easy indicator for non neo rb engines is the blue plug interface (at least from what i've seen).

Carl H did my wiring. He has done other successful neo's so I trust him. We have tried troubleshooting this problem but haven't been successful. I hope to figure this problem out soon.

I know there are neo powered skylines around in america, can anybody around here find one intact to peek into?? I am sure a good nico member would be willing to help. I want to get a whole chassis just b/c of this.

I know of a few people with ER34 Skyline's here but I'm not sure what they could tell us.

stevie-wunda, check your e-mail.

Well you said that you tried the most common ecu and it didn't work. Then maybe the ecu pinout is different on yours. I would d/l the R34 manual and make sure your harness and ecu is pinned the same as in the R34 manual.
