I've just taken my motor out of my car. ( 89' 240sx sohc ka24e) I want to get it running by summer time. I've decided to get it bored out (from 89 mm to 89.5) and put new high compression pistons (10.5 to 1). Besides the normal gaskets and such, what do I have to compensate for or change or reprogram in the rest of the car to avoid catastrophic engine failure (destructed). I have no r and d experience and am hoping to mooch off of you guys. Please help.

your question is vague but i would suggest new OEM bearings, a V-AFC or JWT chip for the increase in compression.

Where did you find 10.5 to 1 pistons? I hope you didnt use the DOHC ones...

I would suggest some minor headwork as well. Maybe something like a 3 angle job. Also any Nismo R# cam would be awesome in this thing with some better gaskets to hold your compression.

Well um what is a V-AFC or JWT chip what do they do and why do I want to look into one. As far as the new bearings, everything is gonna be new. Bearings, timing chain, rings, the works. I'd like to know what changes the higher compression pistons will make besides create higher compression so that I can compensate for those changes. I haven't bought them yet but they are not the dohc ones. Minor headwork will be done but will likely be limited to scrubbing it with kerosene maybe take it to a head shop and have them smooth out the edges.

Here's info on the V-AFC:http://www.apexi-usa.com/electronics.asp

and the JWT chip:http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/

Are you only planning on doing the internals/headwork only or are you going turbo, etc?
