Ive got a vintage NEC Ultralite SX/20 laptop that i need an AC Adaptor for. The computers model # is PC-44-01 and the number for the AC Adaptor is PC-44-70.

I know its old and i should just get something newer, but for $25 from ebay 4 years ago im keeping it.

Look at the adapter connection on the laptop. What kind of connection is it? This may be solved with a simple trip to Radio Suck or WallsMart.

If it's the circular style plug, there should be a voltage label near it. You can just go to a store and get a plug with the right size plug and the right voltage rating. If not...well I have to know what kind of plug it is first.

I assume youve tried ebay....?

I would assume NEC wouldnt have it anymore....

Back in the day, they made some goofy plugs and adaptors for them.....

Ebay has nothing for it at all. I had the adaptor for it 3 years ago but a thunder storm ended that fast

here is my best paint shop work of what the plug looks like along with the info off the computer and battery

Damn 17 volts!!!!

Is there anyway you could splice and make your own adaptor? Maybe just find a 17volt DC adaptor and splice in your own connector?

Give these guys a shout:

http://www.activesurplus.com/

Their our local "geek" electronics part musuem/ mostly surplus electronic and computer component warehouse. These guys have everything to do with electronics and computers made since the 50's till now including stocking discontinued, hard-to-find and very obscure items in original packaging for every make of personal computer sold anywhere in the world since the early 70's. Everything is cheap to begin with and what will make it even cheaper for you is that everything is priced in Canadian dollars.
