Christmas time is here!!!!

That means it's time to start baking cookies, brownies, and anything else that will give you cavities.

I want to know what you guys/girls like to bake?

I usually bake banana bread, chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, peanut butter cookies, "Buckeyes", Chocolate brownies, and some other good stuff.

So lets hear/see what you like to make.

I cook for a living... so I try NOT to cook in my spare time.

However, this time of year I do get to be creative with our specials. We get a variety of game birds (quail, pheasant, cornish game hen, partridge), and also bison strips and butts. So, any multitude of creative dishes that I can come up with are in store for the next month or so.

Yummy, I love quail and pheasant!!!!

It's just so hard and expensive to get it here in Florida.

So do I, But there are so many people that think that I like to cook 24/7. When I cook on my own, I like to cook so Mexican food. I also love to grill every thing, it dosent realy matter what it is.

I'm with MaineEvent. I don't particularly enjoy cooking outside of work. But, I'm a sushi chef and usually we have monkfish liver as a special this time of year. Nothing like cookies!

well I cooked my first turkey for thinksgiving. A 27 pounder and nobody got food poisoning so I'm pretty chuffed. I might do Christmas dinner too. We don't have an oven so I haven't baked anything in years. I might buy a breadmaker and try some creative sweetbread. A local american-owned hawaiian resturant makes this kickass pineapple cornbread I would like to figue out how to make.

Heck yeah!

The ones we get at the restaurant are all farm raised. But, I'm also an avid bird hunter, so my father, brother, grandfather, uncles and I always head to the cape this time of year and blast a few of our own. Watching a good bird dog work their magic is so amazing. It's like the perfect balance of a dog's natural instinct paired with an owner's training ability.

Haha... but there is a problem with wild game birds taken in the usual manner (blown out of the sky with a 12 gauge shotgun). Once in a while you might bite down into lead shot if the guy who dressed and cleaned the birds doesn't pay enough attention.... or has had a few rounds single-malt scotch! (thanks gramp!)

I love cooking but I'm not a fan of baking. It's too precise for my tastes. I don't like to measure and weigh ingredients. I do make these wicked three chocolate fudge brownies that always seem to be a hit when I give them as gifts. Email for the recipe.

Cooking is usually my biggest joy this time of year. As for baking, I like to spice things up a bit and go for traditional/non-traditional recipes. First of all, I can't stand pumpkin or sweet potatoe pies. I can't. Instead, I like to make a nice Caramel Apple or Cordial Cherry pie. Mixing traditional favorites like caramel and apple (candy apples) and chocolate and cherries and turning them into something different is fun and you'll get lots of compliments. This year was my first year making an Apple-Pear cake and it came out perfectly. I used a lot of non-traditional fruits in my Thanksgiving dinner (apples, pears, mangos) and it created a great blend of textures, colors and flavors. Can't wait till Christmas. I don't know what I'll come up with.
