just cranked my SR a few days ago, it idles perfectly right under 1,000.. i have an rfl blowoff valve and a greddy turbo elbow and downipe.. i have not put on the exhaust yet...

my question is... why is the rpms in my car dropping so low at stoplights that sometimes it dies..is it due to the lack of back pressure?...will my car run better when i get my exhaust put on tonight? by the way im putting on the apexi gt spec exhaust, does anybody here have one, and how does it sound?

is your BOV recirculating or non? if its non recirculation. then that could be one of you problems. and also try adjusting you ACV.

He's right you need to recirculate your BOV,Im sure thats the problem,But you said you have the RFL bov there's no way to recirculate those.I got the stock recirculate valve if you need one.

well i just drove w/ the apexi gt-spec exhaust... I cant even express in words how much i love that exhaust.. it sounds perfect, and it's not even that loud....it helped the rpm dropping problem a little bit, but im definitley going to clean out the throttle body, and the air control valve.... the only other thing i can think of is that im still running the old vacuum lines... ill be replacing them tommorow....

well im still having the problem, whether im sitting still and just reving it up, or if i am trying to come to a complete stop... the rpms are dropping really low, really fast.. sometimes it will catch itself, sometimes it will die....

could it be remotely related to my miata battery and electric fan... could it be a sticky throttle body... the iacv?? BOV is atomospheric.....throw some ideas out here

i just want to also reiterate that the engine is idling good, i only have the problem when i rev it up...

Dude like three people have told you the problem/fix.

It is a VERY common issue with MAF cars using atmospheric bov. Some bov aren't AS bad as others. I think adjusting some helps to but if you don't want your car's idle to bob when you come to a stop or rev up seek a bov that will allow you to recirc. End of story.

honestly, if your gonna ask for advice, take it and use it. i used the rfl valve also and had the same problem. i have the same exhaust, doesnt matter. your problem is you HAVE to recirculate with a bov that vents that much air, you could be cool and try a blow through set up. the stock maf isnt the best for this, but it will work, just a matter of how long before it takes a crap. if you like the rfl, try the RBV-H34, i have it, its the same thing, made for recirculating. sounds nice, for a recirc valve. put your stock on to try and i bet you it doesnt stall at all.

sorry about that, i was just trying to get ideas from everyone, but that makes perfect sense.. if i do want to reciculate it.. can i use that big hole on the side of the stock rubber intake hose?

yeah, the big hole on the stock intake pipe is the way its routed normally. you might actually be able to recirc your rfl if you can get a reducer to seal on the horn of the bov and reduce to a 1" hose. i just got the h34, it already was the same size.
