I'm doiing the swap to the J30 caliper but I feel a little uncomfortable about redrilling the rotors. Is there any 4 lug caliper that will fit a 92 coupe and will work with the J30 calipers? I need to get this done in the next day and searching has yielded nothing.

Also if anyone has this swap or the 300zx swap, have you had any issues.

Help please.

Get Q45 or J30 rotors and redrill them to fit 4 lug, that's what I, and most other people did.

Drilling won't be an issue at all. Rotors are hub centric, so center hub will hold the rotor in place, not wheel studs. If you just drill the rotor and install it, you will know what I'm talking about. It's sandwhiched between hub and wheel, so it's safe.

Why not just make a template, take it to a machine shop, and have them drilled for probably less than $20? Are you really that cheap?

Hubcentric? So the integrity of the rotor is not compromised at all when you drill? It just didn't seem too safe but I'm getting a lot of positive feedback for it. I want to double check on the SER rotors just because it seems like the safer bet anyways.

It's not about being cheap or not knowing how to do it. I want to make sure that the whole rotor is not going to break into pieces at a moment when I might need it most. I have this little thing where I like to stay alive so if you want to getto rig your car with duct tape and not know why go right ahead but I like my car and my life and I want to know if things work before I do them.

So you are running the SE R rotors with the J30 calipers? Any negatives?

Also, thanks to Papasmurf, those PDMs are a pretty good options.

So you are running the J30 calipers with the SE R rotors on an s13 and it all bolts on?

thats what he said and if you searched youd find info to back it up. i know ive read it somewhere on here. i know what you mean about not wanting to drill the rotors. its comepletely safe and isnt really ghetto rigging anything. i would get new rotors if i was doing the brake swap anyways so might as well get some that are already 4 lug

I'm going to keep searching and I'll do a write up for it. I just bought the SE R rotors and matched them up with the S13 rotors. It's a perfect fit for the the hub and the bolts just a bigger diameter.

you should just redrill them. You'll be fine. I've had my home-drilled q45 rotors for years, tracked and daily-ed for years, and nothings wrong. If you take it to a machine shop, they'll just do the same. If you buy brembo blanks, you'd have to redrill them anyways.

I took my J30 rotors over to a buddy's and a 240sx wheel hub. He used the hub to mark the new holes on the rotors. Threw it on the 3-in-1 machine and done. Took maybe a hour. I have like under $100 into my brake upgrade and that include new slides.

I can redrill no problem. I know how to do it. What I wanted is feedback on the reliability of it. I ended up getting the SE R rotors because they fit the S13 hubs and have the 4 lug pattern. The question now is if the J30 calipers will work correctly with these.

I just went and measured the J30 rotors and they are about 1/4 of an inch thicker than the SE R. Anybody have any idea about what the consequences might be to run the setup as is?
