I need to replace the rear brake calipers on my '92 240sx. My car is non-abs. How can I tell if a used caliper came from a car with or without abs?

Thanks!

It really shouldnt matter what the caliper came off of as long as its a 240.. the abs controller is under the hood and the sensor should be mounted to the axle under and behind the rotor.. I will go look at mine to be sure...it is abs..but you should be fine.

The only reason I am concerned about the abs / non-abs thing is because when I called Advance Auto to ask about a caliper, they had different part numbers for abs and for non-abs.

That being said, I trust the opinion of actual 240sx owners a great deal more than the guy behind the parts counter. If someone has a set of rear calipers that will definitely work on my car w/out having to modify anything - I'd like to buy them.

Thanks!

Make sure the E-brake bracket on your new calipers is the same as on the ones you have now. Nissan changed the design of the bracket at some point...not sure if it's an S13 vs. S14 thing or ABS vs. non-ABS but there *are* two different bracket designs out there and they aren't compatible.

Well, it looks like they are different from mine. Yours is an S-14 right?

I'm pretty sure S13 ABS was front-wheel only, so the rear caliper off any S13 should be identical.

I should know by now, mine has ABS...DUH...let me check my FSM when I get home.

The Rear calipers on an s-13 should be the same since the rotors are the same. The ABS system is very primitive on the s13. I beleive the fronts were the ABS rotors, I don't think the rear were. Even so I don't think the difference is in the calipers because the actuator is under the hood. I would check my fsm but it's at home and I'm at work.

The rear calipers are the same from 89 to 98 ABS or non ABS.
