I was changing my brakes today and while i had my front caliper off i mistakenly pressed the brake pedal and the brake piston extenden to far out for me to get the calliper back on.

I tried to press it back in so that i could slide the calliper back on but its no going in.

Anyone know how i could reset the piston so that its not as far out. so that i could get the calliper back on.

This car that i was changing the brakes on is a s13 1990 180sx

pop the bleeder valve open and press it back in. watch out for all the brake fluid that will shoot out, though. get a bucket.

^ x2 and you can go to a local auto store and buy a tool specifically designed for pushing brake pistons back in. thats if you really need it though.

or just a regular c clamp...find one big enough to go around the caliper and have it push in the middle of the piston...you need to do that anytime you change brake pads anyways so if you dont have one look at the size and go buy one...

used the bleeder valve and it work the C-clamp didn't work.

But the only problem now is i have air in my line

My question now is how to get the air out and is it difficult to do.]Also because i was working on only one brake does that mean that i only have to bleed that one to get the air out or will i have to bleed all.

When i push the brake pedal in now it goes right down easy and the brakes didn't even slow the car down but when i pump the brakes it barley activated the brakes so little that i had to pull up the emergancy brakes to stop

DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR WITHOUT BLEEDING THE BRAKES!!!

Sorry for yelling, but that is really dangerous. Dude, you need to bleed your brakes before driving your car. Don't want you to get into a nasty accident and hurt someone, yourself, or your car.

FSM Pwns you... for Free FSMbasicly 2 people is needed...start out at the drives rear brake. One person has a hose hooked up to the bleader valve(keep the hose running into a cup and keep it higher the the caliper so bubles float up through the tube) The other person gently pumps the brakes a few times then holds them downWhile they hold down the brake slowly open the bleader valve just a little until fluid comes out...little bubles of air float out... once all the fluid is pushed out of the caliper(when the person in the car's foot hits the ground) close valve and have them slowly release the brake.

do this until no more bubles come out, then do it once or twice more to be sure. MAKE SURE TO KEEP YOUR BRAKE RESIVOIR AT A DECENT LEVEL or you will just add a bunch more air into the system, add fluid back to a little below max every couple time you open the valve, or at least check, if you stand right you can see the resivor and push the brake pedal at the same time.order on an s13 with out abs goes drives rear, pass. rear, drive front, pass. front

I have successfully bleed mine with the cheap one-man/one-person bleeder kits from the auto parts store. It was only about $7 or so, saved a ton of time. I use a vacuum pump now and bleeder valves, but I used the above method twice w/no problems.

And oh yeah, I 2nd the 'don't drive the car' warning.-Slip
