EFFING A WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!!!!!

note - these are for z32 caliper. idk if they will work for other calipers, so verify the size that you need before ordering.

the company is Lafayette Threaded Products, Inc. i forget the gentleman's name, but he took down my information and tracked these rings down for me. i placed an order now, he's going to order them and once he receives them, he'll figure out what shipping is up to me (maybe a couple bucks since he uses UPS) and send them out. i should see them the middle of next week. he was pretty interested in what they were for since i expressed how hard of a time i've been having tracking then down. i also told him to not be surprised if some of you start calling for the same thing. here's all the info you need to get these things:

Lafayette Threaded Products, Inc.216-218 Thruway Park RoadBroussard, LA 70518 Phone: (337)837-9834http://www.lafayettethreaded.com/

Quad-RingSize: 109 (1/2" OD, 5/16" ID)Mat'l: Viton

Price: 2.92/ring+whatever shipping comes out to be.

tbh, i thought they would be cheaper at first, but after this trying ordeal just to find them, and many places saying they couldn't get them, i'm no longer surprised. alright guys, this is no longer a mystery on where to get these things. spread the word and let's get these calipers rebuilt with some fresh rings.

*they aren't o-rings. o-rings have a round cross section. they're really quad rings (square cross section) but the thread is titled as such to ease searching.**mods, i know there are a lot of stickies in this forum already, but hopefully this can be stickied, or at least a sub thread within a sticky, so that this information is readily available to the masses.

that size is for z32 brakes. i doubt the skyline brakes use a different size. if anyone wants to be sure they get the right size, just give them the O.D. and the I.D. (outside diameter and inside diameter, respectively) and they'll get you what you need. but as i said size 109 is the size that you definitely need for z brakes.

Since these aren't oem and weren't made for the z32 caliper, are you 100% sure that they will not fail/leak under normal use? If they do hold up, then this is indeed a great find!

Side story. One of the z32 calipers that I bought started leaking on me shortly after I installed it, I noticed my wheel was really dirty/moist and that's when I realized that my BMC was almost bone dry! Thankfully I caught this before hurting anyone else or my self on the road. Cracked it open to see why it was leaking and surely enough, there was no seal. I managed to source a couple of seals and I am happy to say that I have no leakage in my brake system. Anyways, the point that I'm trying to get accross is to never assume what you buy is good. And always inspect it throughly.

since nissan never offered replacements, i had to go through hell and back to find this place. the material is one of maybe 2 or 3 that is used to make these rings and will stand up to automotive brake fluid 100%. the size is exactly the same as the rings originally found in the calipers.

and i agree 100% on thoroughly inspecting used parts before entrusting your life to them.
