So I got pulled over for "rolling a stop," which is complete BS, and got ticketed for my exhaust. Went to the state referee for the sound test and failed pretty bad. It doesnt help that I do have the Apexi N1, but everything else is stock!!

So Im looking for another exhaust that will pass the retarded 95db rule. Any suggestions?

P.S- The exhaust was clocked at 124.4 dB...hehe

wow, that's played. uhmmm, have you tried . At least you got the ticket for the sound violation. I once got a ticket for having a modified exhaust period. Different Code then the db one, so its a completely different thing, and I had to revert back to stock to get it cleared.

Was it 124.4 dB with the silencer in?

Uh oh. I got the same Apexi N1, I don't know if yours is dual or not. But mine is.

I hope I don't get into the same trouble you did. I'm not sure what the level is for PA though.

what is the db limit in CA?

it must suck to own a modified car there for that reason alone I'd never move to that state

theres good reasons to live here. 95db, but the cops are "trained" to tell a loud exhaust by ear. you get the ticket if a cop has a bad day, then you gotta try and get proof that its under

I highly doubt that. Cali doesnt suck as much some might think, it just depends on the cops in your city and how u drive. There are soo many loud a** around my city its not even funny, and I rarely see them pulled over.

AZ is the place to be, there are really no laws there, hell you can holster a gun with out permits. When I lived there, it can be as loud and low as you want is to be...

I would go with having a muffler shop put on a resonator in there.

Cali is an awsome place to live. How often will you see post "I drove around my modified car today and didn't get pulled over"

Never, because their would be no point, all you ever hear is the people who do get pulled over. People have this idea that you can't even leave your driveway without a cop waiting for you to leave.

Plus there's a million and one shops over here.

another resonator?! do you think that will take it down another 30db? also since im 95 im only OBDI correct? do you think that putting in the second cat after the downpipe will make a significiant difference??

also no one has named an exhaust system that they have experience with. i suppose thats the main point of this thread. anyone go any quiet exhausts they would like to recommend?

I hear the stock ones fairly quiet, Honestly though I think it all depends on your setup or lack thereof. Also at what RPM does it reach the 124.4 dB point?

Check some of these out to get some ideas,

You also get caught with less than a zip and you see jail time. Here you get a magical state card.

no the law here in CA is stupid now. had a ref ticket not to long ago for the same exact reason. Even if you have a silencer you wont pass the visual. I pass the sound test not visual. They revved your rpm to 4k and keep it steady for a few seconds. What i did was swap the b**** out and got it cleared, drove to court, payed $10, drove home and bolt that s*** backed on.

Because Salinas is f***ing ghetto and their test equipment is probably from 1969.

Agreed I'd pick AZ or vegas over cali any day. I don't see the perks of cali expensive houses, s***ty laws, broke a** state, millions of illegals, etc

the 124.4 was when the car was revving down and u get those nice pops before the revving down part didnt count, so it spiked the meter. the exhaust isnt 124.4 most of the time.

according to the fail paper, it happened at 4200.

I've got a jasma exhaust on my '90, and I have never been pulled over for it.

Also have a Nismo s15 cat back on another 240 and have only been pulled over because is looks aftermarket. But police couldn't do squat because it had the nissan badge engraved on it. Its actually almost as quite as a stock exhaust.

here in NYC. Loud or not, if a cop WANTS to pull you over for having a can in the back, he will pull you over. regardless loud or not.
