I just recently moved to LA from Western NYS. Looking into an SR20 swap for my 240 witha possible turbo upgrade in the future.

My problem is I am having trouble grasping the whole CARB and visual inspection portion of the smog test out here. NYS had nothing like this.

If you have parts on your car that aren't CARB exempt, do you fail the visual test and subsequently fail your smog test?

Is there ways to get aorund it?

Any Cali residents with info or experience with modded cars and smog tests please help a newbie understand this.

thanks in advance

You're probably going to have a hard time with this, as California is ridiculously stringent with emissions. Luckily in NH, we can pollute all we want and get away with it. :D

Good luck eitherway.

if you are going to put the illegal sr20det into your car you are going to have to get it smogged illegally by a crooked shop. there is no other way to do it.

How about registering your car out of state?
