BASIC RULES FOR DRIVING IN CALIFORNIA:>>>1. Turn signals will give away your next move. A real Californian driver >never uses them.>>2. Under no circumstance should you leave a safe distance between you and >the car in front of you, or the space will be filled in by somebody else, >putting you in an even more dangerous situation.>>3. The faster you drive through a red light, the smaller the chance you >have of getting hit.>>4. Never, ever come to a complete stop at a stop sign. No one expects it >and it will result in you being rear-ended.>>5. Never get in the way of an older car that needs extensive bodywork. >California is a no-fault insurance state and the other guy doesn't have >anything to lose.>>6. Braking is to be done as hard and late as possible to ensure that your >ABS kicks in, giving a nice, relaxing foot massage as the brake pedal >pulsates. For those of you without ABS, it's a chance to stretch your legs.>>7. Never pass on the left when you can pass on the right. It's a good way >to scare people entering the highway.>>8. Speed limits are arbitrary figures, given only as a suggestion and are >apparently not enforceable in California during rush hour.>>9. Just because you're in the left lane and have no room to speed up or >move over doesn't mean that a California driver flashing his high beams >behind you doesn't think he can go faster in your spot.>>10. Always slow down and rubberneck when you see an accident or even >someone changing a tire.>>>11. Learn to swerve abruptly. California is the home of the high-speed >slalom driving thanks to the State Highway Department, which puts pot-holes >in key locations to test drivers' reflexes and keep them on their toes.

12. It is traditional in California to honk your horn at cars that don't move the instant the light turns green.

13. Remember that the goal of every Californian driver is to get there first by whatever means necessary

You are not a Californian driver until you have driven with: A taco in your left hand,A soda between your knees,Your right hand shifting, Your left knee steering,Your feet playing DDR with the pedals,Cell phone 'round your neck (cuz you lost the headset),n yelling at the lady in the next lane for putting on her makeup!

the other night i rolling stopped a 4 way stop, but i was in 5th gear. but this is bad driving, Utah style. Actually it was like 2 am and i was going slow enough to stop on a dime. its amazing how slow the 240sx can go in 5th and still recover.

Sounds like Dallas...people drive very agressively here, I like it though since I'm used to it. Drives the country folk nuts though and they always almost kill someone by driving too slow.

I drive 5 mile under the limit on my four mile trip home from work in the morning. Talk about pissed. These people that leave the house at the last minute go nuts when they get behind me. :D

That was a great list.

assuming no traffic, a lot of people tend to drive as fast as possible. in traffic, no need for speed limits at all since there is no speed at all.

everybody, BUT me needs speed limits. Actually i have had this good idea about speed limits/speeding. You get an upgraded drivers license and your car is certified as a "higher speed vehicle" And you get to do 100 in a 75 or something, under normal safe conditions. I haven't worked out all the details. But special licence, and car is certified=higher limits for you.

... or is so punk rock that they use them, and still pull over in front of the other moron who sped up upon seeing them.

Quote »>2. Under no circumstance should you leave a safe distance between you and the car in front of you, or the space will be filled in by somebody else, putting you in an even more dangerous situation.>[/quote]

This happens to me all the time. I drive a manual transmission. 99.9% of everyone else has an automatic. In traffic, I sometimes have 5-6 car spaces in front of me, because I know that there's no point in rapidly accelerating into the brick wall that is stopped traffic.

So the other day I'm on the 405 at 4:30pm and traffic is going like 20mph. This stupid hoe pulls behind me and honks. I check my rearview and she flashes her highbeams. So I retrieved my drink from the "cup holder" that used to be an ashtray, checked range in the rearview, then hucked it up, out of the driver's side window and over the back of the car.

It landed right on her windshield. Stupid hoe.

Mark 0.07 clicks to the south, lock and load captain, loaded, prepare to fire, spotter - check range, range correct at 0.07 clicks to the south, FIRE IN THE HOLE.......

Dude, I laughed my a$$ off when I read your post the first time. It sounded like getting ready to fire a mortar.....

I miss most of the time too. I decided to post the story because it's one of the few times that I actually hit my target. :ylsuper
