I need to replace the Cats and O2 sensors on my 97 Q45. Any options aside from the dealer? I need a low cost solution. Thanks.

My Q failed smog and I got one cat replaced a couple of months ago paid for by the state. The total cost including diagnosis was less than $500. The aftermarket cat price was about $200 and the shop farmed it out to the local muffler shop for installation. Choosing emissions-compliant cats and installing them isn't rocket science. I'd suggest visiting a couple of muffler shops to compare prices.

Try sparkplugs.com for OEM NKG O2 sensors. For the G50 they're less than half the price of the stealerships. Installation is very straightforward at any reputable shop with a lift. Good luck.

I checked out sparkplugs.com, thanks for the advice on the O2 sensors.

Where did you get the aftermarket cats? I was told you couldn't buy they in CA and had to go to the dealer.

Remember aftermarket cats are very thin on actual cat material inside [to save cost] so they are only viable for a few years at best. Oem must last 80-100k whereas aftermarket only gives 12-24k warranty.

Depends on how long you plan on keeping vehicle.
