Well ive searched and what not and still havnt quite found what im after. Im just playing around with the Max and seeing what i can do with what i have. Im new to the Maximas so my knowlege is still limited on them. Right now i have a filter and MAF adapter but im looking for a CAI or SRI if one is made for the VG30E. Ive seen the ones for the 92 SE's ( mines a 92 GXE ) but from my understanding the SE's had a different motor, DOHC ect.. Would it still work on mine or is what i have the best i can expect to find?

the engines are different. dohc v. sohc i believe. i know the output is 160hp v. 190hp.

stillen has a air box replacement, its listed for the dohc but since its just the air box it might work for both cars. *edit* link removed b/c i don't know about sponsor issues

we used to have a 1993 SE. that was a great car, i miss it.

The intake routing is a lot different on the '92+ SE than the GXE, so an SE intake won't work on your GXE straight out of the box.

A '91 or earlier SE intake will work with on a GXE though.

you could probably make a functional 'short ram' by removing the factory box and getting a filter + adapter for the stock intake tubing, or fab up some tubing in a standard size from something.

my brother has done the short ram trick; he actually put a filter on that had a built in screw type clamp on it and it seemed to work fine.

i've heard that the ypipe is the most effective mod on these cars anyways -- maybe you should just go for that and do a short ram

Yeah i already have the filter + MAF adapter but was looking for something a lil better. I have heard alot of positive on the Y pipe so im already in the works with one of those.

Oddly enough a CAI from a 90-93 Accord fits almost perfectly on the VG with very minimal cutting. Its the only CAI option that I know of for the VG but really should work just as well as one designed exactly for the VG.

I've actually never installed one myself, I went turbo myself.

Any hoses on the piping itself can be routed to the aluminum elbow before the throttle body pretty easily I would think.

Well im at 148,000 miles plus i dont have the $ for the turbo setup so ill just keep it N/A to be safe lol. Got me thinking so i went out and double checked and it was only one hose that is an easy fix. Guess i know the next thing i'll be ordering. Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated!

Ahh, it'll handle a turbo. VG's are incredibly stout engines.

No problem and good luck!
