hi everyone, im joe. i would just like to say thanks for all the help even though this is my first post i have used the search button very well and have fixed every problem with my 95 240sx so far. i have the stock KA24DE and a few goodies in the closet. i just purchased a cold air intake (cheap one) and after some fabrication its installed, but it is gettin pretty hot after a little while of driving. does anybody think if heat wrap will work, like you would put on an exhaust? i beleive thats what its called. it will hold heat in i guess so it should keep it out, but dont take my word for it, lol. i tried searching, but had no luck, it kinda seems pointless for me to have the cai if its just gonna get hot, like hot enough so i cant really put my hand on it. agian thanks for all the help !!!!!

The stuff you put on headers right? or wrap your turbo with. Same concept only with your CAI. I bet it'll work.

if you know that it is your underhood temps that are making it hot then it will help. If it is hot outside and you are sucking in hot air then it will only keep the pipes hot.

thanks for the input, ive got a pretty good fresh air flow where the filter sits, its just where it goes across the back of the radiator is where the heat is transferred. ill give it a try, ill post a pic and the results when its done!

here is the thing manA cold air intake does just that, it goes to the passenger side of the car, where the battery tray is,a hole needs to be made for the pipe to run down into the fender trim and bumper area. This cai you have let me take a geuss, it goes over your rad.???? Well clearly its gonna get somewhat hot.... If you have the "cai extension" it is technically a cai BUT it kinda diminishes the gains due to the FACT it still runs along the radiator, now with what I was speaking of above, you run it under the battery tray and you only have one heat source(rad hose) robbing the cold air. THis is part of why a stock box(mod'd) and aftermarket filter always kinda ends up being better then most aftermarket ~"cai"~ ...... best of luck my friend.

The wrap IDK use it on the stuff making your pipe hot instead??????

thanks for the reply all !! ill keep all the ideas in mind, i do believe im gonna try to wrap my intake cause i dont think i would do a good job trying to wrap the top part of my rad. im eventually gonna boost my KA but for the time being im rebuilding my head, BC 272 cams, valve springs, seats retainers. a little bit more to buy + an SAFC. any ways my intake pip is pretty ugly so i think it will look better wrapped up , lol. well thanks for all the help!

well if your gonna boost anyways you might as well go ahead and move the battery to the trunk(or passenger side for now) and do the short cai(through the battery tray) like suggested. Sorry I sem to forget about the rad, I was thinking about wraping the rad hose lol

honestly those cam are about the best thing you can buy for a ka, seems like the most hp, other then obvious boost.
