Hey Guys, I’ve got a few questions about Cold air intakes, tried searching for this already but it brings up a lot of info on 2.5 models and mine are for the 3.5.

1.Is it possible to throw a CAI in a coupe with a 3.5L engine, ive heard that there isn’t enough space in the engine bay to put one in because for the 3.5 everything is more crammed than the 2.5.

2. I’ve been waiting for NISMO to put out a CAI for our coupes but it doesn’t seem like that’s gonna happen anytime soon, unless anyone else knows otherwise? So my question is does putting in say a fujita or injen void any warrantys?

3.I don’t know much about cold air intakes other than that they give you some more horses. I’ve heard they actually change the sound of your engine as well and was wondering if this is true at all.

4. How hard are these to actually install?

Thank you

1. Yes, but it would take some work, possibly even relocating the battery, maybe.
2. No idea on the Nismo and no, the intake won't void your warrenty.
3. They give you probably the least gain out of any performance mod but yeah, they do sound cool.
4. Easiest install besides a strut bar.

I'll be ordering a K&N intake next week directly from my local Nissan dealer. Surprisingly, they have an excellent price ($289CDN). K&N "claims" (and I emphasize "claim") an increase of 9.36HP @ 4300RPM. Hmmm... I don't know about that. Install is reasonably straight forward and everything fits nicely because the factory air box gets removed. Nissan also sells the Nismo intake but the cost was in the $400's. Not worth it just for the Nismo label, I think.

the 9 HP is not guaranteed

Also 289... well, stupid. You're better off getting headlight fluid

:wtf2:

I think it's safe to assume that you are being sarcastic? While this thread is about CAI, why don't you elaborate on your comment for all our benefit. Are you referring to the K&N being crap, the price is ridiculous, CAI all together is pointless...?

techinically the k&n isn't really a cai, it's still a warm air intake, just with a heat shield. you'll get some noticable gains from what i hear from the 5 million threads about intakes, but it's nothing to brag about, it's minimal. however, you may get better mileage, nicer sound at high rpm and some power gains (in a perfect world it would be the claimed 9hp) but more likely <5hp. some people swear by the k&n intakes, but i've heard others praise their fujita and injens as well, which are less than half the price.

That's what it really boils down to. Everyone has their own preference. To each is to own, I believe some would say. Look at it this way, because of everyone using different products, we have these forums for discussions. Otherwise, this would be called a K&N or Injen or AEM.... discussion forum ONLY.

I prefer red grapes over green ;)
