are you doing this on a convertible?Nategreat923 wrote:I know there are cages available to buy, but for my senior project Im building a "Drift ready car". So, I am going to go 5 speed, weld the diff, put the coils in (again), and build a cage. My step dad (a professional welder) wants to know where we can attach the ends of the tubes. Im thinking from 4-6 point cage. ANY input would help a bunch, thank you guys!
Thats a nice design. As for the panels, it doesnt really matter, I would like to keep the speakers working, though.johnny butt wrote:

if so, are you trying to keep the rear panels without putting a huge hold through them?
I think this design is nice. I believe he can also close his top.
That is perfect! Thank you so much.EPD wrote:Do you or your step old man know anything about cages?
Not many on this site will cage their car, i did so i will try to help you a little.
I am assuming you have the correct tubing and tools. you MUST attach the ends of the tubing to a plate that is at least .125 thick and 6x6.
you can attach the rear to plates you mount in the trunk or to the shock towers, but you must remove the rear seat brace if you plan to attach to the shock towers. I attached them to the trunk floor because you get a funny angle if you try to do the shock towers.
For the main hoop, you will have to remove the lower portion of your seat and attach it there. Dont try to attach it to the floor. Thats where i made a fatal error. you wont be able to move your seat back far enough to get comfortable. I have a Recaro spg that wont fit now so i am going to cut out the cage and make a better one!
need anything else? Let me know, i will try to help you.
