Thank you for your interest in learning what our abbreviations mean. As you will notice, there is a strategy behind the structure...

Our nomenclature breaks down as follows:XLR: X-series luxury roadsterCTS: C-series touring sedanSRX: S-series reconfigurable crossoverSTS: S-series touring sedanDeVille DHS: DeVille high-luxury sedanDeVille DTS: DeVille touring sedanEscalade SUV: Sport utility vehicleEscalade ESV: Escalade stretch vehicleEscalade EXT: Escalade crossover truckV-Series: High performance vehicles

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

What's up with that new Caddie BLS that's in Europe only, based on the Malibu?'Baby Little Sedan'?

I wonder if they came up with those before or after they named the cars.

Because I seriously doubt they had the meanings of STS, DHS, and DTS back when the labels first entered use.

I bet BLS is B-series Luxury Sedan.

In the 90s STS was Seville Touring Sedan. SLS was Seville Luxury Sedan.

The BLS is basically a Saab 9-3 with a new body, new interior, and new engines. Theres a gas and turbo diesel. So far, the Europeans think very highly of it. 600 miles on one fill up.

It also can come with the 2.5 turbo that's in the 9-3, and a 2.0 turbo ECOTEC.

and the President!

Seville still sounds a hell of a lot more like a Cadillac than STS ever will.

Yup, I agree. Unfortunately, gold-loving golfer fogeys ruined the image associated with the name "Seville," so STS was embraced to separate Cadillac from images of cheap vinyl roofs and gold-plated spoked hubcaps.

I'm still waiting for the new iteration of the ETC.

The only thing worse would be a Saab made in Japan.

The end result was a better Saab for America and a better Cadillac for Europe.
