....ok, so it's a Hennessey-prepped CTS-V, but it's still fun to watch:

BTW, wonder if Hennessey is still in the doghouse with Viper owners? :poke:

LMFAO, I can't believe they still prefer the Caddy over the GTR. Yeah the GTR is just a little more than the modded Caddy(or was that the stock price for it? If stock, yikes...), but you get reliability, you get prestige, and the GTR looks BA compared to the Caddy.

Plus, the GTR was 165 horses LESS than the Caddy and was just .1 seconds slower than it. Complete marketing fail on Hennessey's part.

The GT-R gets off the line a ton faster. Caddy needs all that horse to make up lost ground in the first 60 feet (plus, it's heavier).

Both amazing cars - I'd like one of each. :)

The CTS-V Wagon is exactly 3,393,281,392,836 times more badass looking than the GTR.

The only fail I see is that the CTS has a better power-to-weight ratio than the GTR. That's even true of the STOCK CTS-V wagon. A STATION WAGON has a better power to weight ratio than Nissan's "supercar." Caddy wins. Game, set, match.

I don't dislike the GTR at all. But I'm a lot more impressed by a wagon performing like a supercar than a budget supercar performing like a supercar. It's a WAGON. A WAGON.

Oh, also, the CTS sounds eleven million times sexier.

I'd take the CTS over five GTRs.

It's definitely an apples to oranges comparison but considering that the GTR has a huge traction advantage I'd consider it quite impressive.

I'd take the caddy over the GTR.

I failed to realize that the looks of a car is dependent upon the eye's beholder. I mean, you are talking to a guy who's driving a Mazda3, and actually LIKES the look of his car.

Not necessarily. Without having to go through all the trouble of modding, you still get more dependability out of the GTR and be able to daily it(if you had to, but I wouldn't.), then you have to get over the fact that you're driving a WAGON. A WAGON. I still think the fact that you had to put on drag radials, up the HP over the GTR by 165 in order to get by Godzilla by .1 of a SECOND! I'd much rather put all of money in an FD3S, or an MS3, build and get a show quality daily, and spank both of them. Hell, for half the price you could build a Civic hatchback and still do better than all previous cars I've stated.

Kudos for them doing something different though, and it is impressive. Especially for it being a wagon, but I think they should have used a different car to compare it to. I'm not a GTR fanboi.

You'll note I said STOCK. Even the stock factory warranty-covered CTS-V wagon has the GTR beat in the lb-per-hp department.

Also, I don't worry about being seen in anything. I drive what I want, and anyone who thinks less than good of it can swivel on my middle finger. I'd drive a pink miata if I came by it at the right price. And I'd do it with a grin on my face. Anyone embarrassed to be seen in a wagon has bigger problems than being seen in a wagon.

As for the DD comment, I have a rule:
Never buy a car you're not willing to drive EVERY DAY. I would ABSOLUTELY drive either or both of these cars every day if I owned them.
The idea of a weekend car has always baffled me.

Wagon is hot. I would drive in on a Road Trip around the world. Coupe is hotter though, IMO. Video is a repost but i don't care.

Oh, it's also worth noting that 2010+ GTRs are no longer rated at 480hp. Factory rating is 520hp now. The car got a pretty hefty set of upgrades for 2010, including launch control that's covered by the warranty and a new front bumper that fixes my biggest styling complaint with the car.

So my power-to-weight comment might not apply anymore.

New GT-R is 1/10th of a sec quicker than the Hennessey wagon.

p.s. Wagons are hot. Period.

Love both cars... I have seriously considered the 4d CTS-V as my next ride. Once I start seeing them in the 30-35k range, I'm gonna come looking to blow the doors off Greg's vette. :woot:

You'd better make it snappy, Sunshine.

By then, I'll be driving a boosted CTS-V Wagon or Coupe. :)

Pity there's more to driving than keeping the wheel steady on a straight road and mashing a pedal, Cadillac might be on to something.

Comapring a stock car vs a modified has never been a meeting of equals and everyone on here knows it - solely using a quarter mile trip as the basis of who is "better" (always subjective anyway) makes it even less relevant. Hey look! A sub-11 SRT-4 that comes in under budget of both the stock GTR and the Hen-illac? Both of those beaten by an economy car. All hail Mopar's Mighty Godhammer!

And just so GM can take some lumps...

Guess the Vette had its parking brake set.

Then there's the fleet of Subies and Evos that would walk all over the GTR, Caddy and the SRT.

^ Bingo.

I avert my eyes when I see an SRT-4 or an STi so I don't get any gay in them... And I sure as hell wouldn't drive one.

The Caddy and the GT-R are both cars you could drive to work every day, and on a 3800-mile road trip. Try THAT with an EVO, a STi or an SRT. :)

The real question is how's it turn? There's a whole lot more to do with a car than go straight.

Probably, but it seems to depend on where you live. The majority of his complaints were from customers outside Texas. BBB gives them a B+ rating which overall is not that bad considering how long he's been in business, but it could be that most of his customers live in Texas.

It sounds like Hennessey screws up occasionally, and when they do, if you're not from Texas, better have a lawyer.

Aren't they boosted already, technically?

Or do you mean turbocharged, specifically.

Anyway, I'll take one of each. If I had to pick one, I'd probably take the GTR, just because my wife already needs to have a big car and thus I don't.

The CTS-V's looks have not grown on me even in wagon form it looks like a bunch of sharp angles. I like the organic rounded flowing look of cars like the G37/35 or GTR.

When I read the first road test on a CTS-V I was impressed couldn't wait for it to be a few years old so it would drop into the bracket of what I am willing to pay for a car. But there are so many ways to get low 4 second to 60mph times in a sedan now I don't have to sacrifice style for speed.
