Nissan recommends 15k miles, but it probably depends a lot on where you drive...dirt roads or contruction areas compared to clean highways or suburbia.

And if you get the stock K&N replacement, I don't know if you'd notice a difference because you still have all the stock restrictions in place. If you remove all of that and use some type of WAI or CAI, then you'd notice a difference. And from all the reading I've seen, don't use a filter that needs oil (like some, if not all K&Ns). Oil will mess up your MAF pretty quick.

It could help with your mileage, but not a lot. All in all, if you get the hi-flow OEM replacement filter, it's still subject to all of the restrictive baffles and channels that the factory filter used. You'd need to get a hi-flow filter and ditch the factory stuff for a single tube.

I would use a factory filter if not doing any other mods. Aftermarket air filters can destroy mass airflow sensors which can run about $500. Not enough gains for the potential problems.

You have to be a nissan service manager with a statement like that

If the in cabin microfilter destroys your MAF.....you definately put it int the wrong place

Nope, a Nissan master technician. And I was refering to the air filter Not the in-cabin air filter. Use any brand you want for the in-cabin. Many come from the factory without the in-cabin air filters. There is a Nissan technical service bulletin about aftermarket air filters destroying MAF sensors (and voiding the warranty). So don't take my advice if you do not want to but remember that I warned you.

I'm sorry you have had such bad experience with your nissan techs, but that has nothing to do with me. As far as the mass airflow sensors, don't know why they are so sensitive, it has been an issue for several other brands. I don't know what act you are talking about, but Nissan does not have to warranty any part that has been damaged by the customer. The warranty applies to factory defects only! BUT... Nissan has to prove that the customer caused the malfunction. Warranty is not the issue though. Dealers will still warranty the sensors. It's the failure of the sensors out of warranty that is the problem because you will be out of pocket to replace.

Yes, my dealer is bad..I got double wammy'd because they are also the Honda dealer..and the service techs are the same. I have to go in with part numbers...because if not.....they will say that the part does not exist.

For example...The cup holder flaps in our van broke on the center fold down tray. I went in to order the flaps and they told me they do not exist an you have to by the entire tray for 250.00. I did some research here http://www.odyclub.com/forums/...01017 and had the part number in about 3 min. Took it back to the tards and for 2.00 and 10 min of my time it was as good as new. I am sure you are a good tech..otherwise you would not be on car forums......My dealer can't even find a tsb..I had to print them off and take them in to get anything resolved
