I recently decided it was time to see if I could remove the cabin air filter from the ventilation duct in my 2002 Infiniti I 35. When I started this task, there was a placard on my glove box door stating the filter is washable, although my servicing instructions state only to replace it. After the filter was removed, I washed it and reinstalled it. It carried a p/n 27274 4y110 and the label indicated it was made of vinylon. I have not been able to find this p/n anywhere. Are these not available, and should I replace it with a throw-away unit?

According to this chart the required part number is 999M1-VP004. The part # may have superceded to this new number. If you click on the part #, it will take you to a page on the item. There you will see a box below the picture with an option to ask a question. Click that link and it will provide you with a phone # or an e-mail form. I'm sure they could answer specific questions regarding this filter for you. They are one of our sponsors. Good luck.

If the filter is white, and like a paper then it is washable. I washed mine, and it worked great. But the carbon filters which do better against pollutents and allergans has a plastic border and metal gril on each side. I have currently gone to carbon filter cause it works better. but u pay 40 dollars a year for it. its not washable.

Matt its the same part in the I30 as it is in the I35. The cars are the same just different engines. Same with the max from 2000 to 2003 same body and interior just an engine change occured in 02.

I'm aware of that. I was referencing the FSM for the '01 Maxi vs '02 Maxi and the '02 listed the filter, while the '01 did not list the filter. I "assumed" the '00-01 Maxi and I30 did not have one.

I need to get some Infiniti FSM's in .pdf format...

I think its the same in the infiniti manuals, since the max and I are the same car.

That's why I had not really looked into finding any Infiniti FSM's. Kinda weird they list is specifically in the '02+ manuals, but don't mention a word of it in the '00-01's....
