Cabin air filter replacment

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I know this was presented before, but what is the proper procedure for replacing the cabin air filter on a 2010 EX 35 Journey? It looks like the wipers and cowl have to be removed. Any advise is appreciated.

Thank you.

Not difficult but man that's a lot of screws. I cannot believe they couldn't make it a bit easier to replace since it is a regular maintenance item. On our Lexus we just unsnap a couple of things in the glovebox and your done. Takes me longer to empty the glovebox of all my wife's junk then it does to change the filter. LOL.

Agree. Toyota's system is so much simpler.

Friends, I just purchased a 2010 EX35 a week ago, and it has ~23500 miles on it. I was wondering, what is the replacement interval for the air filter as well as the interior air filter? Thanks so much in advance for your help!

I just replaced mine for the first time. Although it wasn't brain surgery, it was a PITA for sure. I had the hardest time removing the bottom left screw, and then another metal locking clip gave me some 'extra fun'. It took me about 30-45 minutes... All my other vehicles could be done in about 2 or 3 minutes.
Oh well - good for a year or two.

I used one of those Fram Fresh Breeze filters with the baking soda treatment. My son's hockey bag is more than having an impact on the aroma!

Hello,

I just saw your above post dated 05/14/2012 on changing out the cabin air filter on your 2008 EX35. I have the same car and trying to attempt it. I looked at several incorrect, or incomplete videos. I can't get to the bottom left screw. Even went out and bought a 12" long screwdriver, but the angel, wont let me get to it. How did you do it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. I can also be reached at [email protected].

I hate to admit it, but I left that screw out. It has been 4 years and it never caused any issues. Thanks for the reminder - I should probably change it again!

Gary01,

I did it with the 12" extension to unscrewed the screws. If you are really having problem with it you can try a flexible shaft.

Good luck.

Why use a long screwdriver? The glove box is designed to pop out of the casing making all the screws easily accessible.

^^ Can you describe how to do this? I thought it would if you take the screws out along the top edge, but wasn't able to pop it out. Was there something I missed?

When you open the glove box, there are two tabs on the side that keep it from opening too far. Squeeze the glove box where those tabs are and you can open it farther. Once it is opened farther, the glove box unhooks from the casing. There is also a string you will have to detach after you release those tabs.
