I want to chg the cabin air filters on my 99.5 qx4 and need to know how. One thread said to remove the glove box but not sure what that entails. Can anyone provide specific instructions?

The gas pedal sticks occasionally. Any suggestions on how to fix?

I've got the same problem with my gas pedal. I think it's a build up of carbon in the throttle body, but I'm not sure. I haven't fixed mine, but I can tell you it only gets worse. I hope someone here helps us out.

Where is this in cabin filter anyway?

The filter is located under the dash behind the glove box on the passenger side. I wanted to change them myself to save $$ but I'm not sure how to remove the glove box and don't want to tackle it if I'm going to make a bigger problem than fixing one. I had this done at a 'quick lube' place on my Suburban and found out I could have saved some $$ by doing myself.

Yes, it is a build up in your throttle body. It builds around the plate inside the throttle body.

Go to autozone/pep boys etc... and buy STP throttle body cleaner or whatever brand you want. I used STP.

Remove the air intake tube attached to the throttle body and spray away at the plate and all around it.

Then take a heavy brick and put it on your gas pedal so your throttle plate stays open. Keep spraying like crazy away in that to remove it.

Other than that, just follow the instructions on the bottle.

After you do all that, you car will probably start of idling ROUGH. This is okay, let it run for a while because it has to burn off all that crap you sprayed into it.

I have a 01 qx4, so i'm not sure where your MAF sensor is on your air intake. Just be careful of where you are spraying (avoid all electrical components).

There, your problem is fixed. You'll be amazed at how black the inside of the throttle body is.

Thanks Chedman!

Would it make sense to let the car run while you spray so it burns it out a little at a time? I don't know if this is possible, I'm just thinking outloud.

Did you use an old toothbrush or anything to scrub with or just keep spraying?

Yeah, I think that's what you should do.

Just check on the can to see if there are any WARNINGS, if it says not to do that... then keep the engine off.

I know some people went through two cans of the stuff.

I just used about half a can and just tried to wipe away whatever I could with a rag. I've attached a picture just incase people are wondering what exactly it is....

Don't forget to add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner or fuel system cleaner to your tank at every oil change.

I use SynPower Valvoline Cleaner. About $4 at my local walmart.

Remove intake at throttle body, place rags at open throttle body. Leave intake piping in tack. Use oxygen sensor safe carb cleaner. Use a tooth brush long handle, open throttle spray cleaner in, black stuff will slide out bottom of throttle onto rags, spray again brush internal of throttle body, clean throttle plate, clean springs of throttle movement, spray into throttle body, replace intake pipe start motor, idle for a few minutes, stop open pipes, re spray inside of throttle body and plate, replace everything, run motor till warm, change oil.
