So I'm working on restoring my 720 and my cab mounts need some new metal work. The damage isn't that bad however it will require me to move the cab away from the frame and tear the front mount off before I can access it. Anybody know what is involved in getting the cab away from the frame? Do I need to remove the entire cab or is it possible to tilt it up on one side while the other side remains fastened?

Mine I have the body jacked up about 6inch on both sides so I could drop the transmission, the only things I had to do was remove the plate the shift boot is attached to and unbolt a small bracket on the very back of the cab. Take it slowly when jacking it up just to make sure there's nothing that may get caught up, such as wiring, vents, etc. it's pretty much a piece of cake.

Thanks for the replies! What about the steering... does any of that have to be unhooked?

you probably should loosen the rag joint at the splines to allow it to slide free, I didn't and when I tried turning the wheels it was to much on the over 25 year old joint and it tore apart,I planned on replacing it with a u joint anyhow

So I loosened/removed the four cab mounts, the four seat belt anchors in the center and the steering rag joint. I think that may do it however I didn't get a chance to lift the cab away from the frame.

hi fixed my floor like you are doing , bought new factory carpet, looked good . drove truck about a month when it started raining. carpet wet, leak behind heater and air box's. didn't think about what caused the rust on floor.

Thanks for giving me a heads up. I'll keep an eye out when I put everything back together. Right now I don't think that is what caused the rust. I have similar problems on the driver's side. I believe the salt/chat on the roads ate away the undercoating directly behind the wheels and caused the rust problems.
