So I have read you can swap a KA24DE bell-housing onto a CA20E transmission and put it in a S12.

If this is 100% correct then does anyone know if I use a CA20E bell-housing then I should be able to bolt a Ka24de transmission to it and bolt the whole thing to a CA18DET motor correct??

So I guess it would be

KA24DE bell-housing + CA20E transmission = KA24DE in S12 CA20E Bell-Housing + Ka24de Transmission = KA trans hooked to Ca18det in a 240sx.

I need to confirm this as I can get my hands on a CA20E bell-housing for cheap! If its still there this weekend.

Seriously ! Everything I find is all hear say and keyboard mechanics. So 100% sure it will work.I'm looking at doing a ca18det swap and thought the ka would be a cheaper stronger alternitive. You know how different the gearing is?

The CA18 bellhousing will bolt to the CA18 and CA20 blocks.

All of the CA/KA/SR bell housings and transmission's are interchangeable.

The KA and SR have the same gearing. The CA has a shorter 5th gear.

They are all the same strength. Should be good to 350-400hp. Maybe more, but the UK guys swear they start giving up at that point.

All "C" trans bell's will interchange.

Just remember that S12's have a short FS5W71C trans, the S13 and S14 C trans' are longer by about an inch and will move the shifter back.

My only real intrest into the ka trans was for a cheap and easy to find solution. I was going to see if I can get a ca18det with out trans for cheaper and just pick a bell hosing up in a junk yard and bolt a ka trans to the motor

Be aware that if you use a CA "b" trans bellhousing onto a "c" trans you'll have to get a new input shaft bearing. There was a member on C-s12 that did it and he just brought it to a trans shop and they found him the correct OD/ID bearing out of a catalogue. It's just an extra step to press it out and replace but nothing crazy you'd have to do.

We're doing a "B" bellhousing swap from a CA18ET onto a "C" trans from a early 240 and found this website to help us with machining the bellhousing.

We tore apart both transmissions in the junkyard and took the B housing and C guts to the counter. Didn't want to buy both but did see right away it wasn't a direct swap.
