I REALLY hate to ask general question like this, but I really hate turbo sizing. I love turbos, but I hate their sizing, so many options.

What are you guys running on your CAs, and what would be a cheap (like cheaper than I can find an OE T28) turbo that would put me to 350hp? Or should I just say **** it and get a HKS GT28 series turbo?

thanks guys, and sorry for this thread,

gt series either HKS or GARRET doesn't look any bigger than a standard T25/28, boosts all the way through mid-range and then keeps on giving above 6000rpm. rated at about 400hp-500hp. The GT2535 and GT2540 are similar in design also, and from what I've heard similar in output, but more peaky. The 2510, or 2520 is considered the best choice for a quick streetable/driftable CA18. just my 2 cents.......

As if you guys haven't noticed in my last few posts, this is for a medium output auto-X car that will have occasional runs on the highway ('cause it's fun) and an occasional run at the 1/4 (to piss people with V8s off) and mostly a street touge car and an auto-X beast.

so, with that said, I need a quick response turbo, so probably small, but I didn't think a HKS or Garrett GT25 series could take the higher boost that 350hp requires, (which is what, I don't know what boost people are running at)

also, with the whole 9krpm redline everyone wants, what will just doing a whole bottom end balancing, port/polish, and some CA1DE cams get me? I really don't want to get into springs, valves, retainers and all that stuff yet, or maybe I will just 'cause the engine will be out, damnit...hmmmm...funny how this project keeps getting more expensive by the day,

thanks guys,

probably good for the highways, though, right? :D NOT good for quick response auto-x though :D too bad we had better highways that I'd feel safe racing on more often over here,

Its not too bad, you just have to keep it above 3600rpm, and you think your roads are bad.........

if you could afford it, i say get the HKS GT2540R - 360/370 PS Output

Quote » HKS GT2540R - 360/370 PS Output

COMPRESSOR:-Wheel- 46 Trim - 51.7 Inducer / 76.2 Major-Housing- 60 Inlet / 50 Outlet - 0.50 A/RTURBINE:-Wheel- 76 Trim - 53.8 Major / 47.0 Exducer-Housing- GT25 inlet / Internal GT25 oulet - 0.64 A/R 1401-RA071 *General Application* 46T 0.64 T25 Flange Internal $2170.00 [/quote]this turbo will pull HARD and quickly. on best motoring there is a Kei Office S15 thats running it, pushing 330 hp and it is a Touge and curcuit car thats is lightning fast and super responsive. i am sure it would kick arse at the 1/4 mile too..

for larger pic: click here

it is internally wastegated and will bolt up fine. need new oil and water lines i think. but those should be replaced anyway.

I think the or HKS GT-RS will be a bit too much for what you discribed, even though it is a KILLER!

i agree with agree with ca19 above... go with the hks gt2540r... or another good choice would be a t28 hybrid... t28 with t3 internals i think would work gtreat... and be a lot cheaper...

I've heard a few bad things about gt2540's there supposed to be quite laggy compared to the gt2535.

well i saw it on the Kei office Silvia in teh best motoring and i can say there is nothing laggy about that turbo, he was exiting corners fast.

biut i also forgot about teh BIG28 turbo from Forced Performance.

retail is $799 i think - SR's are making 320whp at 21psi...

so thats a good option.

what amount of boost would be required to make it to 350whp? I don't see many peopel posting what boost they're running at,

and I'd really like to run a HKS GT turbo, but I didn't think the T25s could spin that high, I know OE ones can't, I didn't think that there were that many differences in aftermarket turbos,

And if that's Kei OFFICE's touge silvia, then it's probably pretty responsive, but it's a 2.0L vs a 1.8 or a 1.9 (haven't decided yet) will that amount of displacement be that big of a deal?

im runing 7-12psi when the car isnt being ******y it will boost to 12-13psi all day long. its pretty qwick to spool starts spooling @ 2700rpm and really picks loves 5700-7500rpm and it loves higher psi i have a feeling this turbo is goin to really show its potenial at 15 to 18psi . maybe even up to 20psi. it feels like it wants more boost.

HKS GT turbine will be spinning more than happily along and making full boost 3000rpm and the GT2540R should max out at about 22~25psi making about 320+hp.

basically as far as i can tell, it is a T25 .86 A/R turbine with a twin ball bearing center section, new more efficeint/larger turbine wheel, the compressor is a TO4E 50 Trim or a 57 trim (the same as the Turbonetics T04E 50 trim compressor on my T3/T04E) in the .50 A/R with the 3" intake on the turbo and twin scroll compressor blades etc etc.. the limiting factor of this turbo is the exhaust housing, being a T25, i dont know if there is a internally gated 1.0 or what ever T25 turbine housing, i dont even know if there is a 1.0 turbine housing in the T25 family.

cehck out HKS USA website and dont listen to anything i just wrote... read it yourself,,,
