hey CA guys, i am thinking about getting into the club. i am thinking about buying a 200sx with the ca18et motor. so i was wondering if i can get good power out of this moter? or should i try for a swap of the ca18det, which i know can make some power. i'm not looking for high numbers, just a quick car. thanks. also has anybody done this swap{200sx ca18et to ca18det} is it straight foward? seems like it would be.

The ca18et should get you close to 200whp if your lucky, with proper mods and a good tune. Remember it came stock with 120 to the crank. I had fun with that motor for many years. I made 160whp @ 15psi with a t25g, 3" turbo back exhaust, front mount IC, cold air intake, walbro 255, without a tune on the remaned engine with less than 12k miles. I bent a rod shortly after.Doing a ca18det swap into a S12 is very straight foward. I completed mine back in Jan, and I love it. Totally different motor than the ca18et ever was. I haven't dynoed it yet, but it pulls way harder at 10psi than the ca18et did at 15. Well worth it......and looks like your in Georgia....if so go through http://www.jarcoinc.com near Atlanta for a clip. Good prices, and excellent customer service. I got mine through them.Anyway, check out the ca18det section on http://www.club-s12.org for swap info. Plenty of people on there have completed the swap, and there are "how 2's" on there as well.Take a peek at my car domain.....lots of pics, and vids of my ca18et. I need to update it with my ca18det pics, but just haven't done it yet.Anyway, welcome!

thanks man, that about aswered all my q? i think i will run stock ca18et a while and fix up the body to my liking and slowly build a monster ca18det and drop it in as the finishing touch. i am going to join the club and start researching these cars. i kinda just dicovered them recently, and i love them. can't wait to get started. mine{the one i MIGHT get} is just like yours with the scope and all. let's hope it all works out for me.

The SOHC can bring the pain. I saw one back in the day that could deal with boosted up SR20s. Imagine the one two punch, I lost to a CA? Wait, I lost to a CA with only one cam? WTF!?

you can do some damage with a single cam. seriously, ever felt one of those things? heavy. imagine getting nailed in the side of the head with a camshaft.

my friend made 220whp out of a stock single cam non-vtec civic motor. youve got 2/10th of a liter on that! ill bet it could dish out upwards of 300hp with deep enough pockets.

The difference between the ca18et and ca18det is like night and day.

After my swap, without a tune and with a small boost leak, the ca18det still pulls way harder than the ca18et did. The swap is very simple, and if you have the time, it can be done from start to finish in about a day or two.

The wiring was tricky, but we got it figured out on club-s12.
