I have an ET available to me and i was wondering what it would take to swap into a 240... i figure most of it should be similar to the DET and i'm sure some of it will be different... but i was wondering about the things like the mounts and such....? info please?

well don't i feel like a dumb-***... i knew i should have looked harder and i seem to have found the answers to some of my questions... but i still have some mainly...

do the stock P/S lines fit to the DET or do they need modification?

I found that the Mounts are all the same but are their any other fitment issues i should be aware of before starting this swap?

do not swap a CA18ET in your 240 you will be sorry. If it's a CA18DET then your good to go. the ET is a step back from the KA. The ecu is not progamable, it has a ****ty MAF and it is limited to about 250hp, and that is with many $ spent that could have been used on a far better engine.

yes... you are right. BUT doing this swap is better than nothing at all. The reason i'm going to do it is because i can basically do it for free. i can trade my car (rough 280ZX) for a 240 with a blown engine and i can get the swap for almost free. then, later when i have some cash i can swap to the DET without much drama (even though i will have to change ecu's and harnesses again)

this period inbetween will give me a chance to work on my suspension and gain more RWD experience (been auto-xing FWD for 2 years now and finally found an good inexpensive RWD platform....240)

all in all this will be a temporary setup but even the ET with the exaust and intercoller setup that i will use in the future for my DET will be more HP than a KA that i would be wasting money on because none of those engine mods carry over...see?

how rough is the 280zx? thats as cheap as it gets! those cars are soooo mod-able. some decent head work and a nice exhaust and your already up to 200hp. not to even mention the torque. check out zcar.com for some ideas on that car. a 280zx turbo motor will go 350rwhp and as much if not more torque without cracking the head gasket. something to think about anyways...

true true.... my 280 has holes in the floorboard, dents here, there, and everywhere... but the glass is all good and the NON-turbo motor runs GREAT i even auto-x it once in a while.

Alas... my dream is the 240 so thats what i will end up with. If anyone knows of someone who would be willing to trade a blown 240 for it just let me know and i will wave my magic wand to make it happen.
