I'm looking at my oil pan on my motorset and its got its share of dents. From what I've come up with using the search tool most of you just left your own dents in or banged them out with a hammer? Assuming I'd rather not go that route, will a ca18et pan fit a det in an s13 chassis? Searching already showed me that a ca18de pan is too shallow...

I second this queary. My pan has a few dents, but we thought that since it is a pretty deep pan, it really shouldn't be an issue.

its not an issue... just bang out the dents as well as you can and roll with it. I assume you're nervous because you've read SR swap guides warning about dented pans, but the pickup design on the CA is alot different, and even sizeable dents shouldn't pose a problem for our pans!

Just bang them out man. The CA doesn't seem to have the oiling problems the SR does. As Sean said the pickups are different and not a concern.

If I can't find another option I'll certainly do that. The question still stands though. Does a CA18ET pan fit on a RWD CA18DET, or more to the point is it just the same pan? They are the same short block, correct?

they are supposed to be, yea. I don't think anybodies tried it to find out if it does or not. I would think that it would, but I don't know how hard they are to find.

This is a super ancient thread, but is anyone on here running a CA18ET/CA20E oil pan on their DET/DE?
I have come across a few posts on the internet by European and Australian road race and drift gentlemen who use the ET pan on their DET's and claim that it is in fact a lot more effective in keeping oil at the pickup under hard cornering.

Looking at the pans it would make sense. The top is a DET pan and the bottom is an ET one.

The nice thing is that the CA18ET and CA20E pans can still be easily purchased new. Both appear to be the same, the only difference is that the ET one has the turbo oil return.
